What does upgrading scythe, watering can and hoe do?

I have yet to upgrade these tools yet and I was just wondering what upgrading them even does and if it would be worth doing or not?
I'm guessing it just reduces the energy cost for using them and increase the water capacity for the watering can but just wanted to ask since I didn't see it here already

you already gave some point for the answer. i just adding some points here. i think worth it for some reasons. first, for watering can, i guess the upgraded one gives more capacity so i don’t have to get more water often, reducing me to doing that thing, but yea you know if you upgrade it, you will have more area to get watered and sometimes the area is not the spot that i want to watered, so mostly for watering can i just use it normally like the not upgraded one, but yea as i say, the bigger capacity definitely help me (because mostly i bring 2 watering can in my daily farming). and then, pickaxe, yea you need it for bigger rocks and help you more while mining, i guess more faster for destroying the rocks. and next, axe, the upgraded one can be used for bigger log, and can unlock some new locations to get rewards like near the mining cave, near the abandoned villa. for hoe, i think it will help you also for scavenging in the beach and other areas, you can hoe more spots and reducing your time to doing it i guess (but for some moment, i still prefer using hoe without the upgrade ability even though i use the gold one, i just do normally for any occasions).

(+) my point is, i guess upgraded tools surely help me, there’s time you might feel it will help you and maybe sometimes not but i prefer using upgraded tools no matter what, better tools means better 😉

that’s my elaboration and my opinion. still, it’s your choice. and i guess anyone also can share and answer this question. i also look forward to hear opinions towards this.

can you explain more on which part “them” you refer to?
what’s the cost that you refer? if the upgrading tools yea there’s cost that we have to pay, but idk which one that you want to know

but for experience, hmm i think maybe spent more energy (maybe for some methods and some tools) but idk exactly because apparently i also rarely pay attention on my energy used during using the tools

i think the “effective” means more like hmm if you hit a big rock with regular pickaxe, you will hit more to destroy it, means more energy used. but if you have gold pickaxe for example, you might just need to hit one time so the energy won’t spend much for hitting one rock. i guess yes like that
