These guys keep running off to The Void where I can't reach them to give them presents. Is it possible for me to unlock this area or not yet? (I know that Antonio isn't in this screenshot. He goes to a different place)

not able to reach afaik - that map sections is like the AFK zone for NPCs that are in spots we cant get to / arent even added yet
i have read from others that sometimes the NPC portrait goes there when the NPC is in the Observatory, which is somewhere we can go, so maybe check there?

they go out of town. antonio is only available at coral island on friday and saturday. I don't remember the rest, but if you encounter this, just try another day of the week! bree, walter, kenny, scott, eleanor, etc are sometimes out of town as well

Just putting this update in here in case someone else has the same question. I checked the observatory and none of the characters shown in my screenshot were there today, at least. Of course they could visit another time.
Interestingly, Scott's schedule (from the wiki) says that on this day, time, and weather conditions he should be in the museum working. He isn't.

Someone suggested he’s in parts of the museum that are not unlocked yet, which is why he goes to the void 😢
