Hi, I've been playing on Steam when I've had time (probably shouldn't have bothered with Alpha), but I chose the Switch key.
Will my progress from Steam be able to be transferred over to Switch in some way?

There is nothing official from devs that there will be cross saves - my guess is it’s unlikely, cross saves typically require you to have an account with the game itself (like Disney dreamlight has done)
