I have unlocked the greenhouse and if it works like any other greenhouse we can keep the plants regardless of the season?

If so, what is the best crop to plant in there?

Yes, the plants stay there regardless of season. As for what's best, that's up to you. I put in the crops that keep on giving over and over, and the fruit plants (which people commonly call trees but they're plants in the game).

You could probably look up what is the most profitable reproducing crop, but I like to keep fruits/vegetables that don't grow in every season, JUST in case you need a particular seasonal fruit/vegetable. But the crops that are 1 and done, I just keep 1 stored away.

i agree with the answers here. but personally, i love to grow strawberries and grapes for producing wine. and both crops is regrowing crops. but still, it’s up to you 😉

If you want to sell crops without making into artisan goods, I have my own calculation in Excel (it will change according to update):

Here is the summary:

  1. For green house: Strawberry is the best profit maker, Sugarcane is the second

  2. Spring: Sugarcane is the first (profit 430 for 28 days per crop), then Strawberry is the second (profit 305 for 28 days per crop)

  3. Summer: Pineapple is the first (profit 225 for 28 days per crop), then Lily is the second (profit 216 for 28 days per crop)

  4. Fall: Lily is the first (same as above), then pumpkin is the second (profit 210 for 28 days per crop)

  5. Winter: Cotton is the first (profit 135 for 28 days per crop), then snowdrop is the second (profit 130 for 28 days per crop)

Note:
a. Strawberry is better than sugarcane for long term profit, and sugarcane beat strawberry for short term

b. The worst harvests to grow are all the fruit plants, because they generate loss after 56 days. You will not get what you've paid.

could you share a spreadsheet? xD

The information about plants not getting back what you paid is incredibly good to know. Crazy!

I know the numbers are on the wiki, but I'm trying to add the calculation back in so I can apply it to artisan too. This way I can determine which ones are worth the processing time.

I just finished spring in y2 and don't want to start summer until I have ✨ a plan✨

okay, i figured it out! Some of my calcs don't match the wiki and I think that's because the wiki needs changing. e.g. I get 135 for cotton too, but the wiki states 120. Guess I need to be a wiki editor now 😅

I was in 2nd year Spring, too, and won't start playing until they give us Sprinkler II back. Lol, I'm a heavy farmer and really need it.

Despite of that, I'm still researching the profitabilities of crops and dairies.

I literally have gone pure grapes. I make grape jams and grape wine @ 600 per bottle. I'm on year 2 winter and my farm is almost entirely decorated with baroque pieces, so its fair to say between bug jerky and grape wine you can do pretty good!
