#How do you attach a tapper?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
You have to be right in front of the tree, and I think there has to be a block of space
The tree also has to be fully grown, make sure the leaves are about taller than your player
OK. I put pathing around the trees so I'll knock it out where that block should be, add the tapper and then put it back. Thank you.
So, I removed the pathing. The trees are planted so there is always a blank space between (Tree - blank - Tree) and are taller than me. I've stood in front, back, and each side - with right and left clicking. I can't attach a tapper. Should I report it as a bug?
Hmmm yeah I think it's probably a bug then, I have mine setup so there's a circle of space around each tree and I was able to attach tappers to the front of them without any problems. I did them before the last update tho, so it's possible it's a new bug
Are you absolutely sure that the trees are full grown. They don't just need to be taller than you they need to be twice as tall as you. If they are indeed that big then it must be a bug cause I don't have issues in my safe file.
Oh tip to see if they are full grown: Can you shake / kick them? If you can then they're fully grown, if not then they still need to grow more 😊
It's not SDV - you need 2 spaces between trees for each of them to fully grow.
Also - they grow really slow. Not always, but often. Anywhere from a week to a month (or in rare cases even more).
Also - what was said previously about shaking them.
Also - pathing doesn't affect tappers placements or produce.
Tappers works in current version (unless it's specifically bugged out for you).
They take 3 days to produce - but timer resets on restarting the day (and that day doesn't count then).
Ah yes - to place them just left-click on a tree while holding the tapper.
I'll keep waiting to see if they grow more. Thanks for the tip.
Oh, thank you!
They have one space apart and all trees are growing so I don't think 2 spaces are necessary.
UPDATE: My problem was my trees were not fully grown. I have now attached tappers. They only have one space empty between each (2 not needed) and they are growing with paths in those empty spots. Thank you all for the help.
hmm... interesting...
For me it was (and still is) always 2 spaces. If I left only 1 they will not all grow - just some of them that have enough space. The rest would still be on the last-before-grown stage.
I guess I will try to test it again.
I hear you, and I do have some trees that are not fully grown. Let me test by removing some to see if that makes a difference. It could be that some grow faster and then stunt the rest and I just didn't notice.
I confirm, you need two blanks paces between the maple/pine/oak trees for all of them to fully grow. Thank you for the help on this, @proud solar .

glad it sorted out. Now I can cut down my little experimental tree farm. 😄
I'm quite sure 2 spaces isn't necessary - I have 3 trees set up in a row on the very edge of the farmable land, with a ring of paths around each
This is the setup - the middle one hasn't grown yet - the left one took a season, the one on the right took a season and a half
they can't have needed 2 spaces though, as the 3 were planted at the same time, with the buildings on each side - so only 1 block of free space
Well, middle one isn't growing up 🤷♀️
It's not that they will not grow at all if there's not enough space - but they will not mature.
In your example - those that have grown have total of 3 spaces between them (yes, including that sapling) so they've grown.
The middle one doesn't have space to grow.
Sure, I might be mistaken.
So when that tree finally grows all the way - please send screenshot.
As for paths and buildings - they don't matter. Only the distance to other mature trees. If they all aren't mature yet - they will grow. As soon as some matured - they will halt the grow of the others that are too close. Those unfortunate ones will not grow past "very tall sapling" stage.
The middle one will never get full grown so you can never tap it. That's why you need 2 empty spaces between trees.
