When I exit to desktop or title page the game doesn't save. The only way to save progress is to exit the game upon waking. Is this normal or a bug?

absolutely normal and as intended, hopefully will remain as it is forever since for farming sims it's de facto way of saving your progress

I find it very inconvenient. I get interrupted frequently and having to wait until the end of the day to go to bed is not always possible

I understand. Sometimes it is frustrating but farming sims have always used this way of saving. No auto save besides going to sleep or passing out. I doubt Stairway is gonna change it.

It's normal but "save on demand" is on the list of requested additions. If or when it will be implemented is unknown.
