Seed vs Plant upgrade

I am so confused on whether I should upgrade seeds or plant in the lab. Wouldn't the seed upgrade effect the plant?

they're considered separate crops. Plants are the more expensive fruit "trees" that were just added. So Bananas, Dragonfruit, etc. If you upgrade seeds, you're upgrading the normal seeds that we already had (so pretty much all crops you can get at Sam's like radishes, okra, flowers, etc.) the plant upgrade would only affect the new plant trees. I'll find a full list of the "plants" quick for you

Ok so plants would consist of Bananas, Dragonfruit, Rambutan, and Avocado.

If you upgrade the seeds, you're only upgrading the normal seeds. If you upgrade the plants only, you're only upgrading those four plant options. I hope that makes sense lol

So, if I upgrade the seeds that means all seeds are upgraded, not one seed bag of a particular variety like Blueberries?

correct. ie if you upgrade to bronze all seeds at Sam's shop will be of bronze quality
