So I remember in that first convo with Scott that I would receive compensation for my donations to the museum, does that mean there are rewards for various donation milestones? If so, are they implemented yet?

no but as a serious answer, museum donations count towards your town rank progress, so one of the rewards is getting to the next rank and thus getting more produce and access to better quality stuff
i assume that in the future updates there will be a reward for it too, like cash prizes or something like that
