Can no longer give gifts to Wakku and Scott

Hi! I can’t seem to give gifts to either Wakku or Scott anymore - it’s been weeks in-game and the option to give gifts when I try hovering over them doesn’t even show up anymore. I can still give gifts to other villagers, it’s just Wakku and Scott that are stuck.
