how to get hay?

Hi all, I just bought a silo thinking it will help turn grass into hay. I don’t see that happening now. How do we get hay without buying it?

for the time being, you can plant grass and feed your livestocks by letting them outside, they'll go inside after dark automatically

You need both mill and silo to produce hay

mill to process fiber to hay
silo to store hay up to 150 for now

Not really, I purchased the mill and it didn’t limit me without the silo. It’s there for extra storage

The mill just gives you 50 storage

Yes i was confuse at first because it say "GRAIN". that why i build silo first haha

Silo adds another 100 storage

I didn’t know if this game allowed that alternative but that’s for letting me know! I didn’t want to assume it was the same as stardew like I did with the silo 😅

Mills don't really do that RL, so it makes sense it's not very intuitive. Maybe they can add a note in the future?

You don't need both. I only have the mill atm. You insert fiber, then inside your coop or barn, you can withdraw the produced hay and feed your animals there, or, take it all out and store it in a chest for over winter. Make sure you have enough stored to get through winter and think about the possibility you will buy more animals in winter. The silo is just for automatic storage but not necessary
