Trying to find Leah on her birthday, and I can't seem to find her in her usual spots, or on the maps. I've noticed this happen with other townies as well. Anyone have any ideas?

This happened to me as well, but with Lily. I'm not sure what the cause is, but one theory I have is it may have something to do with cut scenes.
I'll be vague to avoid spoilers just in case: I triggered a cutscene with another character that involved going to find Lily. After leaving the building the cutscene was in, the cutscene ended and going around to various points in town didn't make it continue. I couldn't find Lily anywhere besides occasionally in her bedroom during this time (and I'm not yet close enough with her to enter her bedroom), it was like she never left the house anymore. The cutscene then randomly continued one morning almost 2 in game weeks later (start of summer) and after concluding Lily was suddenly walking around/visible on maps again.
Not sure if the same thing is happening here, but wanted to let you know my feedback in case it's similar.
