you need to build silo and the other 1 tower looking building, then start planting seeds
but you don't need to worry about feeding your animal, after you guild barn or coop, just put a fence around it and let your animal go outside, they'll eat the grass for themselves and wouldn't consume your hay for the next day. you don't need to put them inside after dark as they'll return to their coop/barn at dusk.
