I just leveled multiple villagers' friendships up, but some villagers have pink hearts for their increase while others have yellow. What is the difference?

Pink Heart are romance options while the yellow are the non-romanceable ones. At the moment though, it's not updated so don't be surprised some confirmed romance options still have yellow heart.
