I bought new furniture and want to throw old one out, but I can't pick any of them up. Pickaxe also doesn't work.

although i've found that it stays zoomed in after you've upgraded the house so you can't reach the corners 😂

yeah, once you're inside the house the hotkey shows in the bottom right of the screen
