Currently playing on Game Pass - should I switch to Steam?

So I started playing on the PC Game Pass version but I've since found out that the version is the Alpha build and isn't really being frequently updated! However, money is an issue for me, so I'm not making this choice lightly. Basically I'm wanting to experience the game in it best version but I've heard some people have had issues with Steam updates too. Any help? A little desperate here!

I'm not sure when Microsoft will update it. If you can wait some more, I'd recommend sticking to Gamepass. If not, you can switch to steam and the game will be yours to own

I am considering switching to steam... I get gamepass free with my phone contract so not really losing anything and I have played enough using it that I know I will get my money's worth if I buy it on steam

I'm curious about your decision! What's made you consider the switch? Also what's your playtime clocking in at?

Not a huge amount of time, I've had it since launch but I'm still in spring so maybe getting on 10 hours? I don't want to put loads of time into a save file only to decide to switch platforms later and lose it all - better to switch earlier. I am lucky that for me the cost of this game is very affordable - It's been nice to play it on gamepass to check that I like it enough to buy it but I am getting deeper into the underwater section of the game and it is becoming very annoying to swim all the way back to the anchor when I run out of stamina/time because the move anchor function doesn't work on gamepass (currently). Also to note that I have now just bought it on steam. I guess the short answer is I am impatient!

True! I totally understand that! I know that I wouldn't want to lose a lot of progress too! I love to see that you have such a passion for the game, I feel so strongly about the game too!

I would also recommend to switch to Steam, dont know why microsoft is so slow, i also have a gamepass save of six hours, but i dont have the patience to wait any longer. Bad Image for Microsoft 🎃

Hello, I would prefer waiting for the Gamepass version to update. However, how can I be notified when Microsoft updates the build? How can I manually check the version in Gamepass?

If you right click on the game coral island, it says “update game” or smthn like that then it tells u the version.

Same issue! I downloaded the game a few days ago and really like it, but I wanna play the early access and not the alpha 😢 Damn money issues -_-
