I have just reached level 40 in the mines and cannot seem to go further? There are some white doors I can see but cannot go through them and a white circle with the chest on it (which I opened).

I got a couple things, but I didn't get a notification such as "received x item". It just appeared in my bag.

I've gone back day after day to see if the water mine will open, and it hasn't. However another player friend had the water mine open as soon as she exited the finished earth mine. I suppose it just doesn't work for some people?

Are you both on Xbox PC game pass? I had the same issue with the water mine not opening and I just assumed it's because game pass is still on the incorrect alpha version (supposed to be early access like steam)
Sadly that does mean we have to regrind the mine once that push the correct early access build to us but ah well
