#trace waterfall stopped displaying spans

Hello,
Around June 18, the trace waterfall stopped displaying spans (for both new and old transactions). On the event page, it only shows the message: "This trace is so empty, even tumbleweeds don't roll here."
However, the Transaction Summary -> Overview page still shows transaction timings and even individual spans under the Spans tab.
I'm using the Sentry SDK for Python and have tried different versions — the result is the same. There are no errors on the SDK side.
What could be the issue?
