So, one thing I enjoy doing in CoD is trying to build my classes to be as helpful to my team as possible. After all, I like actually winning my games, and going for nukes while I'm doing it.
I've vacillated back and forth on which killstreaks to run, but for months now I've gone with the UAV plus some combination of SAM Turret, Stealth Chopper, Hunter Killer Drone, Counter UAV, Swarm, and Shock RC. Last night, I tried the EMP System for the first time.
My theory is that running streaks that cause the most disruption of the enemy team are most helpful, especially those that are AI controlled (which allow me to keep playing as normal, and thus keep earning streaks or holding objectives). Counter UAV shuts down the enemy mini-map, but it's also vulnerable to enemy rockets and SAMs.
On the non-kill, disruptive side of things, SAM Turret helps knock out enemy streaks, though it's vulnerable to attacks by other players, leaves me vulnerable while I position it, and could theoretically be placed in an area where it doesn't have line-of-sight on a potential target.
Theoretically, it seems like the EMP System is the best of both worlds: it has no soft counter or hard counter that I'm aware of (Hard Wired's description only mentions Counter-UAV and EMP grenades). It destroys enemy electronics (i.e., killstreaks, up to and including the VTOL), causes my enemies' HUD to go haywire, and they ca'nt use throwables, scorestreaks, or operator skills.
I'm usually able to earn it without too much effort; I will also earn my Swarm right around the same time. Meaning if use the EMP System and immediately follow with a Swarm, the opposing team now may not realize there's a Swarm in the air until it's too late because they can't see it on their minimap and they may be too distracted by everything going nuts to process the audio callout for the Swarm.
