That is cool idea, although the wall at Max level also has this feature where it damage zombie that attack the wall for 1 dmg/s
Seems like a good idea but we have amored and big zombies, which would not care much about these fortifications, i guess even normal zombies maybe would not, (because there zombies and do not feel pain and care about damaging themself).
I recommend spiked pits/trenches or moats, which would damage the zombies and hold them in place for a long time, regardless of there size and armor.
(Bigger zombies might be able to free themselfs faster)
I’d like someone extra to build up, maybe it needs repaired or replaced every few days?
My brain decided to work at a time It shouldn't, but I do like the idea of defenses slowing down infected like the barbed wire you just suggest, It adds another risk factor of potentially losing saws when making repairs for the barbed wires outside the walls especially when a blood moon is coming and you have no food, would you repair all the walls and defense but at the cost of some saws being lost because of no food or risk it all and keep the tools safe.

I am by your side with the losing tools outside or close proximity to the walls, but when it comes to the game logic where you lose tools outside the walls yeah that an issue especially the fact you can lose tools literally right outside the gate like the axes.
