During a mission, my character was unable to fire any weapons while in the combat console. Reset all key binds and settings. Disconnected and reconnected to mission. Logged off, reloaded game and rejoined mission. I was able to pilot and interact with all other consoles.

I take it you were a guest in another's lobby then? That could be a clue to you getting locked out of firing in the gunner seat...
