I think the hyperspace jump between sectors would feel way more immersive if it were seamless, without a fade to black or camera cut.
Instead of switching scenes instantly, the game could render a hyperspace tunnel in the same first (or third, for the pilot/gunner)-person view, using it as a loading screen in disguise while the next sector loads in the background.
This would give the player the feeling of a continuous experience — like an unbroken take instead of a scene cut. A great reference for this is how Elite: Dangerous handles its hyperspace jumps.
