#Jumping without your crew

If you jump without your crew on board, right now you just have to pay the revive cost. I’m not sure if it would be preferable, but as far as realistic gameplay goes it feels a little funny that you can completely abandon your crew on a rock and jump away and they’ll teleport right back on board.

Additionally, you don’t have to worry about revive costs for jumping to the hanger/ending the mission, so crews could realistically just have someone stay on the ship as a pilot ready to jump the moment things get a little too hot while everyone stays behind farming as much as they can with zero consequence to having abandoned your crew.

I’m not sure if it would make sense to have it so you’re physically not allowed to jump until everyone’s on board, or just have the penalty be something different, but I just find it interesting that as long as one person makes it out with the ship a the end of the day it makes no difference as to who was on board.

Maybe abandoned players spawn at the next jump location in an enemy stromghold, the abandoned players have to fight out of there with only melee weapons and the pilot has to land near the prision thats sourrounded by muliple corvets.

#

Make the stronghold a prision ship the size of the freighter (that you have to raid in some of the hard missions) that way it can jump to the same location as the player ship

#

Abandoning players in a final mission (before the return to the hangar) should have severe punishment resourcewise

while that idea seems fun gameplay wise for the player that needs to rescue their teammates. its boring wait for the ones that are locked up. it also creates a mentality of trying to abandon players to just have a fun rescue mission for 1-2 players.

#

so your rewarding the players that abandon their teammates.

Wouldn't be a massive solution but perhaps abandoned, dead players could sort of float a little distance away from the ship, orbiting it or something, while still being dead. Just to make it make more sense, and also just because that's funny

#

If you want your lore reason they grapple on last second before it jumps

That sounds as a practical solution that has reasonable explanation

If you jump without your crew it should be punished. Don't get me wrong I wish I did it to friends more, mabey a time limit to get back, just have to implement anti trolling methods to ppl who use it to halt a game

#

Either that or buddy recovers them and gives them a speech on teamwork for a min where they can't move and are forced to listen 😀

I don’t know if it’s already been established lore-wise as to how the revive mechanic works in game when doing an on-foot expedition, but perhaps in general it could be some combination of a teleportation and medical system that Iris can perform when necessary but it requires cannibalism of ship systems (kinda like how Elite: Dangerous allows you to temporarily repair your ship).

Sort of like how @stable frigate was saying about a last second grapple, perhaps Iris performs a last second teleportation before jumping, which is how they end up back on the ship, but it cost some ship health just to teleport them back in addition to whatever the cost is later reviving them.

As far as jumping to the hanger/ending the mission, they still have to perform the last second teleportation, but if they don’t have the ship health to do so then maybe they’ll be physically blocked from jumping until they get all their crew on board
