More than two years have passed since the release of the game, but there are still no new forms of state government. Until now, we have only a tribal system, feudalism and a clan, which is only a slightly modified form of feudalism.
It is already corny boring to play just because the main gameplay does not change in any way. Although with republics we could get better elections, a senate, and a bunch of new character interactions.
#Will we ever see playable republics and theocracies?

dev diary said they're looking at it. Well, republics, not theocracies
Holy Trinity and Res Publica allow you to play as the pope and as republics respectively
Oh, seriously? And I didn't know that. Thanks a lot. That's just the first one works only for Catholicism. And the second one hasn’t been updated for so long that it doesn’t actually work now, and when it worked, it provided (even if the author tried very hard) a gameplay-limited republic, due to the fact that some things, such as the impossibility of playing for landless characters, cannot be changed by modifying the game. Which actually reduced the republic to feudalism, but with a more interesting electoral system. Well, if the player loses the election, then if he has no other other titles left, then the game ends.
Res Publica is being updated last I heard
It was last updated on February 13th.
Res Publica has been updated
try the mod named bum to god if you want to start unlanded
Yes, I know about it, but it is almost incompatible with other mods, including Res Publica.
I know
can't have it all
I mean, the reason it's incompatible is because it's very hard to add that in the game since the game is just simply not made for it. An issue that isn't solved by having pdx do it
Still no word on official republic type coming back? Sad face 😞
I've also wondered about this for a long time even in CK2. I've wondered why only feudalists are playable but never spent time to research about it. Is there any explanation about this somewhere? Thanks.
It's literally a part of the upcoming update
They didn't confirm it. It's pretty unlikely imo
my bad, I was sure it was confirmed
Next update is adding Administrative gov, and you can own an estate in said gov, similar to CK2 republics but not the same really.
