Hello,
I noticed you folks have been working on the option of using CEF for a backend for Tauri. I was wondering if it would allow us to have transparent WebViews on macOS without calling private APIs?
We are developing an application that is very dependent on that, and are a bit concerned about not being able to distribute on the AppStore, and were wondering if we could rely on switching to that in the future to avoid the risk of Apple banning for utilizing that private API.

fwiw, the transparency private api never caused issues in the app store so far. Also the private api is really just in the webview, the window itself has public transparency apis. CEF's "webview" transparency should not use private apis but CEF in general is a bit of a blackbox (to me at least lol) and there are a few very old issues like https://issues.chromium.org/issues/41180108?pli=1 and https://magpcss.org/ceforum/viewtopic.php?t=16624.
Considering the amount of cef and electron apps in the app store i don't think it will be an issue though but i assume the webkit transparency is even safer.
