Is this a bug or does your timing have to be just on the millisecond? I fail fishing even when i press with the ! mark. To reproduce press late on the ! mark to get a failed tug message.

Yes you need to press it as soon as you see the ! mark

Make sure your fishing keys isn't the same as any other action.

thanks i changed my hotkey for it since i had it the same as my walk/run key. I just feeling like if you press while the mark is there it should work. Seems like i have a good 30% chance of just missing the tug.

My speculation is something to do with a system clock being out of sync

trying resetting your windows time to connect to the internet get the local time
