This has probably been a discussion before, but I heard that the devs only want to use families as a way to support the game and dont want the game to be p2w, but I also heard they want the game to be kinda like deepwoken and they want it balanced. So heres my idea for families. They dont give super huge buffs, only small buffs such as vibrations of noises (agatsuma) or see through walls (hashibira) or even just smelling where people are which would honestly just be kamado.

If there are trainings like deepwoken to level up certain stats then certain families could have certain boosts to training speed like Himejima gives you a few extra points for strength or just boosts the training speed for it. And for shinazugawa you get idk an agility boost. I just feel like families shouldnt be entirely useless. Maybe for storyline your family name comes with different dialogue. Im just saying it'd be nice for families to do something, not a HUGE boost, but not just entirely cosmetic since in the anime being in the kamado family is literally a buff since hinokami kagura is passed down.
