A way to make travel more fun (imo) is to make the player have options for speed. There was tree hopping in dsrpg2 but that ended up being somewhat scattered trees and start-up/end lag. Something like a dash or sprint, that's quick but only when out of combat, then a normal run and walk when in combat. If you want to be spicy, you can do like an air dash of sorts, or add tech like last second jumping to maintain momentum of a ground dash. Anything movement-wise would make the game infinitely more fun due to the simple controls being fun on their own. Also add backflipping because why not 🤷♂️

Back flipping would be fun and useful 🙂
Hard agree. Think of it like this, if you could backflip irl, wouldn't you? So why not break that limit on video game format?
making running more fun and immersive would indeed improve the experience of travelling ingame, but you also need to consider that the effects of the addition of such a feature would become less significant as other features that completely skip past traditional running like fast travel would just make your suggestion less of a significance
in summary, fun but probably useless.
would you perform a backflip while running due to a lack of time?
would a backflip really help to maintain momentum?
Not that it would normally, but if doing a backflip helped me travel quicker and in style, you better believe I'd be doing that second to second.
Think legend of Zelda, you can fast travel to a TON of places (over 100), but traveling in other ways is still super fun just because you have so many options (you can backflip too but it doesn't make you go faster)
Edit: I forgot to mention this is specifically for legend of Zelda BotW and TotK
.flai You’ve Reached Level 5
While the backflip was more or less a half joke, I do think that doing flips or twists to gain speed on foot would genuinely be a super rad way to travel, and sound hella fun
I wouldn't pull a sword on a magical demon being, I have guns for that 😎
Also in short argument of this, there is literally no game where fast travel is the prioritized way of travel. It's just teleporting, there's no fun in it, it's just convenient. If you want to play a game for convenience rather than fun, there is a whole different discussion. But fun movement that is an option alongside fast travel is the optimal way to knock down all the pins 👍
you wouldnt accept blood from a sketchy guy to become stronger
Tbh if he convinced me well enough with like visual proof, I'd do it😔
