just an idea i came up with while taking a shit

This boss should be implemented in a gamemode where teammates or other players in the party are properly defined. (i.e. no friendly fire!

The boss will have 3 phases, with a new healthbar for each phase.

Phase 1: Sekido & Karaku

The boss starts off with 2 bodies (Sekido and Karaku) who stay together in the middle of the battlefield.

They cannot be stunned, but they also cannot attack using Light attacks and cannot target players. (Cannot attack like a normal npc).

The attacks unleashed by the boss will be large, untargeted AOE attacks that players will have to dodge to approach the boss.

Sekido will pound his staff on the ground, making an obvious sound and visual cue. Then, parts of the ground will be highlighted, marking the AOE of the impending attack. Sekido then summons bolts of lighting which strikes the marked areas, dealing damage and stunning players hit by the attack.

Karaku will swing his Uchiwa, highlighting a large area on the ground, marking the AOE of the attack. Karaku will then blow any players inside the AOE away from the boss, towards the edges of the arena, dealing damage at the same time. The further away the player is, the less he is blown away and damaged.

If multiple players are in close proximity to the boss, the boss has a chance to unleash a close-ranged attack where Sekido will stun all nearby players and Karaku will subsequently blow them away.

The frequency of attacks will increase as the boss’s health is lower.

Players can damage the boss by approaching it and attacking it

Phase 2: All 4 emotion clones

Once Phase 1 is defeated, the two original clones will split into the 4 emotion clones. This phase has multiple different attacks.

Attack 1: Sekido pounds his staff, activating a sound and visual cue. He will then summon lightning to strike the locations of every player on the arena. Players cannot block this attack, but can easily dodge it.

Attack 2: Similar to Attack 1, but in addition to that, Karaku leaps into the air and blows players into the ground in a large AOE, pinning the players to their locations, such that they cannot avoid Sekido’s attack. Players can avoid this by moving out of Karaku’s AOE.

Attack 3: Aizetsu winds up his spear and thrusts it, creating small, quick jabs. Aizetsu also spins, so all players that are close to the boss are hit. This attack is blockable

Attack 4: Aizetsu locks onto the player with the lowest health and hurls his spear at the player. This attack is blockable and can be intercepted by other players who are in the path of the spear.

Attack 5: Urogi locks onto a random player. A visual mark appears on the affected player. After a few seconds, Urogi flies up into the sky and dives towards the affected player. If Urogi successfully hits the plsyer, he will pull the player into a sky and will unleash a deafening scream at the player, dealing extreme damage and plunging the player into the ground, dealing more damage. This attack can be blocked. This attack can occur at the same time as Attacks 1 to 3.

Attack 6: Urogi flies around the arena, occasionally swooping down to scratch players randomly, dealing damage. This attack is blockable. This attack can happen at the same time as Attacks 1 to 4.

All of these attacks occur randomly, and increase in frequency as the boss’s health is lower.

Phase 3: Zohakuten
The 4 emotion clones merge into Zohakuten. 3 Wooden dragons emerge from the ground on the arena, each dragon representing either the power of Sekido (Staff), Aizetsu (Spear) or Karaku (Fan). Zohakuten will stand on a wooden platform, which raises him into the air. The platform and Zohakuten cannot be damaged until all 3 wooden dragons are killed. Everytime a dragon attacks, Zohakuten will beat one of his drums, alerting players of the attack. All attacks occur randomly, but can occur simultaneously.

Sekido’s Dragon: It will summon bolts of lightning that strike players randomly. However, it can only target a maximum of 3 players everytime it attacks. It will prioritise players who are stunned.

Aizetsu’s Dragon: It will launch a barrage of projectiles that cannot be blocked. It will target the player with the lowest health.

Karaku’s Dragon: It will unleash large-AOE gusts of wind that will stun players caught in it, pinning them to the ground.

Any dragon: If it is not currently launching an attack, it can swoop down to attack (bite) players on the arena. If a player is hit, he will be dragged by the dragon and lifted into the air. The player has to complete a challenge to break free of the dragon, but if he does not complete the challenge in time, the dragon will swallow and crush the player, instantly killing him. Players caught by the dragon cannot be attacked by other dragons at the same time. If a player blocks this attack, he will be stunned and will take damage, but will not be caught. This attack can be dodged too.

Killing a dragon will disable the attacks it is associated with. Dragons have separate healthbars.

After all 3 dragons are killed, Zohakuten’s platform can be broken by players. After the platform is broken, Zohakuten will be lowered to the ground and will be stunned. Players should take this time to deal as much damage as possible. After a while, Zohakuten recovers, and unleashes a powerful sonic scream, blasting players away. The platform and the three dragons then re-emerge, restarting the cycle.

After Zohakuten is defeated, the boss will be defeated.

This boss/gamemode should reward EXP and Yen.

Note:

  • A special feature can be added where Zohakuten beats his drums according to the number of attacks he launches
  • I am aware that some of the abilities are not canon
  • I intended this bossfight to be in the style of “rotations” and stuff

Didn’t put much thought into this, feel free to give feedback
