should use reference for hard poses especially when they got foreshortening in them, really hard to draw that from the top of your head which you should avoid. Don't draw without reference you'll improve at a slower rate if you just draw with no reference.

only time when something close to tracing is useful is if you do art studies on someones art style so you get a feel on what kind of strokes they make or what shapes they use for different things

I don’t think tracing is one of the worst ways to practice I believe their is a right way of doing it but at the same time it’s not tracing...

Like sometimes I do break down practices

I had the image overlayed and then I just broke down the image into shapes to see where everything was under the clothes
