#Viaproxy-Geyser on modded 121.1 fabric server

#support message
Oh sry, missed that. By separate from the server, you dont mean that bedrock can't join my server right?
by separate I just mean that its a separate program and not a plugin or anything like that
Are there any downsides with this method compared to geyser-fabric?
it's a bit less optimized, the faq below explains it the best
you might want to choose to run geyser on velocity since its faster, but its a bit less simple, but still not too complicated
I can help you with it in depth if you want
I can use velocity for a fabric server?
yeah
you need to use the fabricproxy-lite mod tho
I gtg for today, but you can message me anything now and I'll respond tmr
I'll probably also give you a quick guide to set it up
Alr thx. I'll check it out and get back to you if I run in to any problems!
The mods I use currently are only tectonic, terralith, nullscape and incendium + performance mods. Would I technically be able to pre load chunks with chunky and then copy the world file to a spigot/paper server and how big would the difference be without the optimization mods?
I happened to be awake now so I'm responding, but I'd recommend not preloading chunks since it'll just make the world size bigger and a hassle to transfer. You can use the datapack versions of all the non-performance mods mentioned on spigot/paper and just put them in the datapacks folder which is located in your world folder. Just copy and paste your world from fabric to paper/spigot and it'll work (also don't skip on the datapack thing or you could get choppy chunk borders).
Btw since your using spigot/paper, to setup geyser all you need to do is use the geyser plugin (and viaversion if you're on a older version, so below 1.21.5). You don't need viaproxy or velocity or anything like that.
Unfortunately, tectonic only supports up to 1.21.4 as a data pack. I have tested it though, is it possible it might work for 1.21.5?
Just read that the tectonic creator plans on updating it this month
well you can stick to 1.21.4 for now ig
btw, you don't you just use 1.21.5 fabric, you can use geyser's fabric version too
everything you mentioned supports it
and a few performance mods don't matter as they don't affect gameplay
Well I have some client sided mods too. Btw, will 1.21.5 be incompatible for geyser fabric when 1.21.6 is released?
Sry for removing the message. Realised it only sends a notification when you reply
So @hasty pewter, the spigot/paper version is simply the best?
Version compatibility-wise, probably
Guess ill wait for the tectonic data pack 1.21.5 release then
Will the difference be big without optimization mods? @last forum
no, plus all the big ones like lithium, ferritecore, async, etc are supported
You can use viafabric + viabackwards on your server so you can join with older versions.
so then you can use 1.21.5 on the server and join with 1.21.1
yes, but there is a short period where 1.21.5 will still work after 1.21.6 is released. For example, it took a while for geyser to support 1.21.5 so you needed to use 1.21.4, and you can still use geyser's 1.21.4 version even tho it doesn't get updates for the version. But it can break on a bedrock update and won't get new fixes.
Wow, didnt know that
They are supported for the paper/spigot version?
paper/spigot has optimisations built in, you don't need optimisations for them
the only type of optimisation that would be useful would be editing the configs, you can use this as a guide https://github.com/YouHaveTrouble/minecraft-optimization
You leveled up to level 7!
btw, you should use purpur which is based on paper with extra features and optimisations. And spigot is completely irrelevant these days, paper and purpur are much better
anything for spigot or paper will work for purpur
ㅤ
Ik it's not related, but I think that you should try adding a mod or plugin that would affect gameplay to make your server unique. You might want to give this mod a try (https://modrinth.com/mod/cuteorigins), its for 1.21.4 only for now but the 1.21.4 geyser fabric version still works, or you could use the plugin alternative (https://modrinth.com/plugin/originspaper), there are also other stuff like Spellbound weapons, with is a mod/datapack so it would work on fabric or paper/purpur (datapacks work on all platforms). Also everything mentioned is geyser compatible! Spellbound has optional textures tho that you can convert to bedrock with Kastle's converter on 1.21.3 or below, and 1.21.4+ when it finally supports it, but dw its still optional.
btw, don't get into the habit of adding to many things and maybe limit it to these two, since its easy to make a laggy server. Datapacks especially can cause lag, mods (excluding ones with a datapack version since they're just repackaged) and plugins are vastly more optimised. A few datapacks won't do much tho, just not like 15 or something.
I find very hard to decide between the purpur- or fabric-geyser. Which one would you pick?
@last forum
I think it would be nice to not have to get forced to update my server when 1.21.6 is released in case some of the mods aren't updated yet. At the same time, it would be nice to play 1.21.5
Saw now that purpur only supports up to 1.21.4. Maybe its worth using fabric then?
Paper supports 1.21.5
Purpur also has 1.21.5 builds
Only experimental builds right?
Yes
so which one do you think I should I use?
click the 1.21.4
It works for 1.21.5?
There's a 1.21.5 version, it's experimental just like Paper however
If we compare tectonic/terralith with geyser. Does anybody know how they compare in how fast they get updated after an update drops? @last forum
Terralith seems to get updated faster than tectonic on average. Tectonic took 12 more days to update to 1.21.5 but I also remember terralith taking like a month or something to update to 1.21 from 1.20.x
You only use a few terrain mod/datapacks as of now so I'd say purpur, but there some pros and cons so I'll list them out
Purpur/Paper/Spigot:
Pros:
- Don't need to worry about updating to the latest version
- Generally more support compared to fabric
Cons: - Complex redstone builds don't work and can break (most stuff will still work)
Fabric:
Pros:
- Full redstone support
Cons: - You only have a short period of time to update on a new release, or you have to start using a proxy
Conclusion: You should probably use Purpur, the only reason you'd want to use Fabric would be if you were to use some mods that are fabric-only.
like in my use case I use fabric since I use the origins mod I mentioned earlier, and the paper alternative is only up to 1.21.1
Another con of purpur is that there is no stable version for 1.21.5 out yet. Idk how comfortable I am in using that
So how do they compare to geyser?
geyser usually takes about a week or less to update to a new version
yeah, personally I would trust Paper's experimental builds more than Purpur. Definitely use Purpur when its stable tho
for now, fabric could be better since you can use 1.21.5
How long would you guess it takes for paper or purpur to update?
tectonic has a 1.21.5 mod too but not a datapack, so just use fabric now, but tbh since you don't use many mods (optimisation mods don't count), you could just use fabric and be fine with it
You leveled up to level 8!
can't say
Alr. Is it possible to switch without breaking anything?
all the mods you use update pretty quickly too
Switch to purpur?
Yeah from fabric
Alr, thx so much for the help. Ill see if I can get it to work later today!
Yeah but it will probably be updated pretty soon
At least thats what the developer said
ok
just make sure you use the datapack versions of all the non-performance mods you use
Alr. Thx!
I read that the sylvie's origins mod is very buggy, have you played with it and is it still worth it?
Now I see that tectonic for 1.21.5 is incompatible with terralith. What do you think I should do? @last forum
The only real downside to the Sylvie's origins mod is that the "phantom" origin is pretty broken on bedrock, and you need to have your own datapack for the orb of origin recipe, I'll give you mine
it is if you use the mod, if you use the datapack then you have to use terratonic instead, forgot to mention that
yeah but the tectonic 1.21.5 datapack hasnt released
yeah, you have to use 1.21.4 then if you decide to use purpur
well "mod" tectonic for 1.21.4 is compatible with terralith
only 1.21.5 that isnt
here's the datapack and recipe, I just made it with misode's recipe datapack web creator thing, such give it a search if you want
thx
so should I use purpur 1.21.4 or fabrqic 1.21.4?
oh yeah I cant
forgot about that
purpur it is then
also, one question. If I change from purpur to fabric or vice versa, what files do I need to delete in my server folder?
You can use fabric 1.21.4 btw, geyser fabric's 1.21.4 version still works
just no updates
it would just work if you just swapped out the server jars, you don't need to delete anything, although some fabric-only unused files would remain
Oh alr, but purpur is recommended?
yeah technically since it still gets updates
But it doesnt hurt anything. And I would of need to remove the mods?
It wouldn't matter if you removed them or not, they'd be unused and you can delete them
Alr.
the mod is compatible with terralith regardless of version , at least according to here
Yeah but it you go into the 1.21.5 fabric (beta3.00 or smth) version it says its incompatible
oh
And my server crashed when I used them together
Im still trying to decide. It makes some big changes
Plus, ill need to ask my friends about it
there's also a cool geyser compatible waystones mod on fabric, idk if you want it. It's a good alternative to /home if you use that
Oh Ill keep that in mind
This btw https://modrinth.com/mod/sswaystones
But no data pack?
No
Ok
I use fabric for stuff like this, but it comes down to preferences about whether you want it or not
Wow yeah this is insanely hard to decide
probably ask your friends
or make a poll for them
Any voice chat that is compatible?
I think there was a plugin called geyservoice or something
Is there a mod alternative?
I'll look for one
There's also SimpleVoiceChat, then you can use the Discord link bridge
Wow you guys are life savers
however, this isn't very good for a public server
for a server with just friends, DiscordSVCBridge is just amazing
There will be 20 at most
Bedrock players?
was just about to say that lol
Because each bedrock player would need a discord bot along side it
No. Probably about half
If you have the patience to setup 10 discord bots and then config them into the mod
I think I prioritize voice chat over waystones
I really dont know
Do the other people need to do anything
Keep in mind, for the SimpleVoiceChat mod to work you need it running on a different port then Geyser
btw the simple voice chat mod with discord integration works as a mod and plugin
To join prox chat they'd need to run a command each join and then join a discord vc
but that's it
But if I use plugins, wouldnt it just be easier to use geyservoice?
This is very much to take in
yeah, geyservoice seems easier to setup
its your choice about what you and your friends want
I'm hoping to look into better solutions myself tbf, voice chat and bedrock players is always gonna be hard
@last forum your message has been removed because it contains profanity! Please read our rules for more information.
Lol
idk what I said
I believe you
you said d o n g instead of doing
-_-
I'll resend with the correction
xD
lol
Doing another one of these cause why not.
Keep in mind that I'll be willing to assist you if you need help
Fabric:
Pros:
- Origins
- Waystones
Cons: - Somewhat difficult to setup proximity voice chat
- You might at some point need to use velocity if mods don't update
Purpur:
Pros:
- Relatively easy to setup proximity voice chat
- No need to worry about geyser
Cons: - You don't have the pros of fabric
thanks
np
looks like it wouldn't work on console then
So simple voice chat it is then?
Yeah, same process on fabric or pupur too
So I tried now with fabric geyser 1.21.4 but it in the log it says you need to use 1.21.5
You leveled up to level 5!
did you use this version of geyser? https://modrinth.com/plugin/geyser/version/6CGF7CTR
it's the last version of geyser for 1.21.4 that I use
you can't just get it from the geyser website because that gives you the 1.21.5 version
btw since you're using fabric, you might worry about having to use a velocity/standalone proxy for geyser at point, but dw, you can have one for free 24/7 on minehut and I can help always
You leveled up to level 9!
java players will install the simple voice chat mod, and bedrock players will join a discord voice channel after linking discord to Minecraft
technically java players could do the discord thing if they choose
So you can get console version 1.21.72 bedrock to join a 1.21.1 Java server? Just curious cause I just joined and this was all I found
yeah, with geyser on proxy on fabric or neoforge, and just by using viaversion on all other platforms (so spigot/paper/purpur)
Is this the correct thread that explains how to do it? I’ve got geyser and via proxy installed on a fabric server but can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong that I can’t get it to work. Keeps saying on my console that I have an outdated geyser proxy
That means you have to update geyser
When I do then month tells me I need a Minecraft version 1.21.5 to be installed
Modrinth*
Correct but when I stop the server and use the updated version of geyser it won’t start because the geyser version wants a different version of Minecraft
Btw, we should do this in a seperate thread, you can just create one then I'll continue
Ok no problem
just go to #1038995448100306964 , click new post then enter a title and short message, or just ping me in the message box or something and click post
But can't I just switch to purpur when everything is updated?
You can but origins and waystones would stop working
also switch to the human race with the orb of origin before just in case
So it wouldnt work even if I switched to this? https://modrinth.com/plugin/originspaper
Waystones wouldn't work, but you might have to still go to the human origin before switching, then use the plugin's features for your origin to work
Yeah ig
Are there data pack versions of yungs mods?
no
Crap
setting up standalone is pretty easy, just saying
And what would that mean
Just create a "paper" server on minehut and delete all files, then download the geyser-standalone jar, run it, enter your ip in the config and copy the key.pem file from server to standalone and done
Why minehut?
So that would work too
mainly comes down to purpur vs fabric, but you might need some extra work for fabric to work (talking about standalone)
But why would I use standalone over just fabric geyser or purpur geyser?
you only use standalone when geyser fabric doesn't work (like if your on 1.21.1 and it isn't updated to the latest bedrock version)
so now use this
its for 1.21.4 and still works
So if I play this for a while and all the players explore many of yungs structures. Then tectonic and terraluth gets compatible for 1.21.5 again and I update the server. Nothing would happen to the already explored yungs structures right?
no, they'd stay
Good. So when wouldnI need to use standalone geyser?
and since it's only structures you don't have to worry about weird uneven chunk borders
If 1.21.4 geyser breaks?
yeah
But hopefully tectonic and terralith is updated by then
Yeah
What are the chances of 1.21.5 geyser working with 1.21.6?
Pretty high, since there's usually always a period of time where geyser needs time to update, so they just make 1.21.6 bedrock work with 1.21.5
yeah
I'm almost certain since there's going to be a ton of changes in 1.21.6
Wait I dont think I understand. Wouldnt many changes mean that it wouldnt be compatible?
By that I mean it would take time to update to the new version, meaning geyser would make 1.21.5 java geyser versions work with 1.21.6 bedrock versions while its getting updated to reduce downtime
and you'd use those 1.21.5 versions like how you'd use 1.21.4 versions
And when it gets updated to 1.21.6, it would still work?
yes, just like 1.21.4 now
Viafabric for 1.21.4: https://modrinth.com/mod/viafabric/version/0.4.17+102-main
Latest viaversion release: https://modrinth.com/plugin/viaversion/version/5.3.2
Download ViaFabric 0.4.17+102-main on Modrinth. Supports 1.14.4, 1.15.2, 1.16.5, 1.17.1, 1.18.2, 1.19.4, 1.20.1, 1.20.4, 1.20.6, 1.21.4 Fabric. Published on Mar 1, 2025. 18224 downloads.
you need both btw
Why would I need the plugin?
Basically it updates the version of viaversion in viafabric, it also has the fabric platform listed
viafabric is like a compatibility layer sort of
So I should place the plugin in the mod folder?
yeah
Alr. I read also that I need to do some changes in the geyser config to get floodgate to work but I cant find the config
all configs are in the config folder
I dont have a config folder?
it should be in the same folder that has the mods folder
Wait, im just gonna start my pc
inside the config folder is the geyser folder, the actual config files are in there
btw you have to run the mod at
Least once
first
Wait, I might no have started the server with geyser
I just have to change the geyser file
One sec
yeah I found it now
nice
so where is the auth type?
oh found it. Should I change the "online" text to floodgate?
yeah
Have I missed somthing or added somewthing that shouldnt be there? (im waiting with adding waystone utnil Ive talked with my friends about it)
all thats fine, but I'd recommend using ibo https://modrinth.com/datapack/ibo/versions, the datapack works on 1.21.4 but you'll also have to use incendium as a datapack too. It fixes the pretty bad lag caused by incendium by removing everything except its biomes
it will still work, the creator of the mod mentioned that it works in a 1.21.4 feature request too
oh im sorry im stupid. I didnt read your first message enough
so I should download the data pack variant correct?
Yes
datapack for both incendium and ibo
also do the /datapack disable "Incendium.zip" then /datapack enable "incendium.zip", it makes incendium load after ibo which is needed for it to work. And use tab autocomplete for "incendium.zip" its not actually called that, and restart after
is this correct
You leveled up to level 6!
yes
And I should delete the mod incendium?
do this after first joining
Use tab to autocomplete it with the actual file name
I do it from the terminal, thats okay right?
I dont have a 1.21.4 client prepared yet
Yeah, you can do /datapack list to show the name
I can copy the name of the file?
/datapack disable file/Incendium_1.21_UNSUPPORTED_PORT_v5.4.4.zip
it'll show up after running this
is that correct?
Yes
didnt work but Ill do what you said instead
maybe without file/?
You leveled up to level 10!
with ""?
like you did here?
you used """
maybe just do it in minecraft with autocomplete, I can't remember
also gtg for an hour, sorry
My class was delayed 25 min, so I can answer but here's the command /datapack disable "file/Incendium_1.21_UNSUPPORTED_PORT_v5.4.4.zip" then /datapack enable "file/Incendium_1.21_UNSUPPORTED_PORT_v5.4.4.zip"
np
Can I switch origin later?
with the orb of origin, yes
datapack for the recipe is here if you forgot
so I can just give myself one later and choose when the smp starts?
yep I added it
yeah
I dont think this is right...
that's what happens when you remove a terrain mod/datapack or add one
with an existing world
yeah ig, if you want you can just delete the regions folder in the world folder which contains the blocks in a world
I thought it doesn't happen if you just update a terrain mod/datapack, but ig not?
worldedit also works ig
but manual still
gtg
alr
Answer when you have time. The only thing left is voice chat right? Could you walk me through how to do that?
Also, ive only port forwarded 25565, can I change the port to 25565 in the geyser config?
are you not able to also port forward 19132?
I can but it is just extra work if I can use 25565
I guess you should be able to, since java uses tcp and bedrock uses udp
alr, ill test
btw, are there any changes you recommend me changing in the settings?
Can I for example disable bedrock bridging?
you can disable bedrock bridging but I wouldn't recommend it
why?
bedrock players would probably get mad, because they'd place a block and it'd just disappear, maybe recommend this to java players https://modrinth.com/mod/bridging-mod
that gives you bedrock bridging on java
why would it disappear
because geyser won't allow it
huh?
but bedrock thinks that should work, so it instantly deletes
They cant bridge like in java?
they can, but you're nerfing bedrock, and all I'm saying is that they could get mad
enable above-bedrock-nether-building: if you want, but the caveat is that it makes all nether fog red
red fog for both java and bedrock?
only bedrock
is there a picture you could show me?
isnt it always like that?
but like everything has that red fog in the nether, even stuff like warped biomes that are meant to be blue
yeah
alr ill wait then.
it it shouldn't matter much, and it's hard to notice most of the time
I guess ill enable it then
there's a extension for geyser called geyserextras that has a fix for it, but for some reason it doesn't work on fabric and neoforge, you'd have to use standalone for it to work
no point in saying that anyways
yeah I wont do all that work just for some fog hehe
that's the only geyser extension I've seen that does that
yeah its not that big of a deal
btw, you can check this out https://github.com/GeyserMC/GeyserExtensionList
emote menu is a good one
you can switch offhand and do other java stuff by emoting which opens a menu
If you have https://modrinth.com/datapack/dynamic-lights then torches light up in offhand for bedrock too
on the server?
yeah
geyser extensions go in config > geyser-fabric > extensions
data pack or mod?
any, its a repackaged datapack if you choose a mod so its the same thing
Also you should get this https://geysermc.org/download?project=other-projects&geyseroptionalpack=expanded it improves bedrock compatibility. Put it in config > geyser-fabric > packs
I'm talking about geyseroptionalpack btw
where should I put EmoteMenu-1.1.0.jar
config > geyser-fabric > extensions
there, I think ive done everything youve said now
including this?
yeah
that's pretty much all there is to setup geyser
Im gonna test the port for bedrock. After that, would you help me getting voice chat to work?
sure
thx
one other question. Is it bad for a server to run 24/7?
and never be restarted?
apparently you can get memory leaks or something, but I've never experienced that
just restart every 3 days or something
is there a code or smth that can do it or do I need to do it manually?
you can use a cronjob
actually I'm not exactly sure, just a sec
you can get pterodactyl panel if you want, but that could have a performance impact
it has a scheduling feature that would restart it
I think ill do it manually if it affects performance
You leveled up to level 7!
I actually have an idea
nice
im listening
#!/usr/bin/env sh
while [ true ]; do
java -Xms4096M -Xmx4096M -jar server.jar nogui
echo Server restarting...
echo Press CTRL + C to stop.
done
what does this do?
that restarts the server after it stops, so you can do /stop from minecraft manually, and it would restart without having to ssh into the server
but I really dont know how scripts work. WHat do I do with it?
just a sec
why does this happen?
the trees?
I can't really tell
While in the server base directory (folder) do the following (to check run ls and it should show the mods folder, config folder, server jar, and the rest of the server files):
- Right click the message with that I replied to then click copy text
- Run:
nano start.sh(creates the script file) - Paste the stuff you copied
- replace the line
java -Xms4096M -Xmx4096M -jar server.jar noguiwith the command you use to start the server - Ctrl + O then "Enter" then Ctrl + X
- Run
chmod +x start.sh(this makes it executable) - Now just run
screen -S serverto start a "screen" and do./start.shto start the server. You can press Ctrl + A then D which will "detach the screen" and remove you from the server console and usescreen -r serverto go back to the server console. To stop the server and the script, runstopin server console, then it will tell to press Ctrl + C to stop it from auto-restarting.
legend
np
do I type Ctrl+C in the server directory or when the server is on
run that to stop the script when it's running
and to enable it again I type ./start.sh?
yeah
So I can do that from minecraft?
in game
I sort of realised an issue, when you ssh into the server, it opens a new session each time, so then you won't be able to stop the script if you aren't in the same session
which means?
so you won't be able to stop it (easily), I might have a solution
alr!
I deleted the regions folder again cause I wasnt happy with the world. The problem is that just the closest chunks to the spawn were changed. Can this have to do with distant horizons?
if you have distant horizons, the LOD might be outdated meaning that far chunks outside of your render distance are inaccurate and show the old chunks, is that what's happening?
you can fix that by deleting the "Distant_Horizons_server_data" folder
or just the server inside that folder
for a specific one
bro you have an answer to everything
I have experience ig lol
you sure do
Btw, when you start the server in an ssh session, leave the session then ssh again. How do you stop the server?
450ish messages from this thread is wild tho, I just had to mention that lmao
yeah lol
well the server is online but im not "connected" to the server inside putty
man I need everything to be explained in monkey terms xD
brb
so do you just stop it in minecraft?
I guess
I havet really used the command to run it 24/7 before
Only the one without "screen"
brb
are you familiar with the screen command? (linux)
not before this no
Basically run screen -S server and do ./start.sh and you can press Ctrl + A then D which will "detach the screen" and remove you from the server console and use screen -r server to go back to the server console.
That fixes the issue, so you can always do Ctrl + C after stopping the server to end the script
the server is on now but when I press Ctrl + C it just restarts
just run stop in console to stop the server, then it will give you a prompt to stop it from auto-restarting by pressing Ctrl + C
when I press stop it restarts and when I press Ctrl + C when its in the process of starting it just starts the process over
nothing happens
do it twice maybe?
it just says ^C in the middle of all the code
I'll test it myself, just a sec
Yeah it might just be me
going back to the startup script, run nano start.sh, delete everything after the "ava -jar ..." line, then paste:
echo Server restarting in 10 seconds...
sleep 10
echo Press CTRL + C to stop.
done
that's a seperate message so you can right click and copy text
did you do the screen thing btw?
none of them worked. Ill send a vid
ok
video size limit
A fast online video compressor to reduce video file size. You can compress video to a desired file size or a quality level. Supports MP4, FLV, MKV and more.
thx
the same happens with ctrl + z
I don't think the script will work tbh, because it depends on Ctrl + C for it to stop
it usually works but idk why its not for you
maybe just restart the entire machine itself to stop the script
from oracle cloud?
yeah
you remember I didnt do this right?
no I just thought I might have missed something
so theres no way I can stop this script without ctrl + c?
at least not conveinent ways
I didn't really try that
I dont know how to do it on my keyboard layout though
This is what happens for me
it stops the server and script for me if I do it while the server's running
even without stop
yeah I have no idea what to do
try this if you want in another putty session
You leveled up to level 11!
don't expect anything tho, it just gives a 10 second cooldown to run Ctrl + C when the server isn't running
sorry if this is getting annoying
nonono, yes this is very annoying but without you it would be more than annoying
you dont have to apologize
btw did you do this or should we just move on to voice chat
I dont see any "ava -jar..."
the command you use to just your server
starting with "java"
delete and replace everything after that
paste the stuff on the line after the command to start the server
so you sort of misinterpreted what I said, you see the line starting with "screen", just remove the "screen" part so that the line starts with "java"
oh so that fixes everything?
Everything after and including "echo", then just paste the part on the same line where "echo" was
hopefully
im sorry I know im stupid but after what?
should I delete anything
Delete the part I covered in red
alr thank you xD
and replace with this
and Ctrl + O then Enter then Ctrl + X to save and quit
now "./start.sh"
You leveled up to level 8!
?
yeah
maybe send a screenshot of what you wrote first
nano start.sh to open the file
screenshot
then Ctrl + X to close
the server is running without me writing "./start.sh"
just not in my session
Should I still write ./start.sh?
so restart putty then sudo reboot?
no restart the actual machine that the server runs on in like the oracle web panel or something
ignore sudo reboot
alr okay
once it's restarted, use putty and do:
screen -S server./start.sh
Im in oracle cloud rn, theres a reboot button. It says it will take 15 minutes to reboot
does that sound right?
idk why its 15 minutes but maybe just wait ig
yes
is that risky?
it's kind of needed for the script to stop
is it okay that I return in like 30 minutes? I kinda need to do smth but If you cant then ill stay
yeah its fine
THX!!!
Im back, sry for taking longer
so, the server is running
were you able to use Ctrl + C properly?
it seems so yes
but without the screen before java, wont the server turn off when I close putty?
I just realised "sleep 10" was supposed to be after the second "echo" line, but it's purely a cosmetic thing
under?
no, and use screen -r server to get back to console in a new putty session
is sleep 10 supposed to be under the second echo line?
you only do screen before running ./start.sh like it says here
good, just Ctrl + O then Enter then Ctrl + X if you forgot
seems like you're familiar now
more like less not having any clue what im doing
so now I should screen -S server?
but the server isnt running
so do that once, then ./start.sh
Leave the console (screen) with Ctrl + A then D, and get back to it with screen -r server
to start the server
just to test?
no it says specify session name with -S
yeah, use screen -S server to start a screen session called server
we could leave it on if you want
no, it might be good to test
ok sure then
so I should put screen -S and then the server name?
it doesnt matter what I call it?
yeah, you can call it anything
and now ./start.sh?
Yes
but use the same name to recover it screen -r (screen name)
that's weird, you could before tho. Can you send a screenshot of console and minecraft's disconnect message?
can you try restarting Minecraft?
im just gonna try smth that fixed it last time. Everytime I start the server, should I first put screen -S server?
if you already are in the screen, you don't have to do it again
no
it worked!
nice
If its not too much work id like a very easy to understand guide of all the commands I should know cause its so much to take in?
Yeah, sure
screen -S (screen name): Starts a session that you can always leave and come back to../start.sh: Starts the script to start and auto-restart the server.- Ctrl +C: Stops the script, run
stopin console first to stop the server, then it'll tell you when to use Ctrl + C - Ctrl + A then D: Use this to leave the screen.
screen -r (screen name): Re-opens a screen that was already created
yeah
so now, every time I need to restart the server I just type /stop in minecraft?
yeah
are you able to join on bedrock?
yes
for voice chat, you need to port forward 24454 as udp
alr one sec
You need these two mods, after adding them, do /stop to restart and generate configs:
just a sec
apparently port forwarding and ingress rules are for different purposes
This might help https://www.reddit.com/r/oraclecloud/comments/q2iv2h/eli5_how_to_forward_ports_on_oracle_cloud/
huh, why did that work last time?
ingress rules?
it might work, try it out ig
I'm not fully sure about this
btw, why don't you do it with 19132 for geyser. Is there a limit to how many you can set?
no I just thought it was more work?'
did you do this?
just do it like you did with 25565
alr. Idk but I might have done some command in putty but I dont remember
alr and now?
so you port forwarded it?
I added an ingress rule for both tcp and udp. After that I might have done somthing else
the thing is I mostly copied commands from a tutorial
ok, thats fine, tcp was unnecessary but it won't mess with anything
sorry for responding late, but you did or didn't port forward 24454 as udp?
I did but not as tcp
ok good
There isn't any setup for simple voice chat apart from the port, but for the discord bridge, you have to follow the guide on the mod page below, ask for help if you need anything https://modrinth.com/plugin/simple-voice-chat-discord-bridge
If you want I could record myself doing so you could copy, but I'd have to do it tmr
ill try but if I cant get it to work it would be very much appreciated
thx!
Is it possible for a ps4 client to join @last forum?
yes
this is the github page that was linked https://github.com/Pugmatt/BedrockConnect
do I need to do anything?
no, only the person using ps4
alr!
You leveled up to level 9!
And about the voice chat. I came nowhere so ill wait til tomorrow
ok, that's fine
you can choose another method which makes it harder for you and easier for them, basically they have to add a friend and can join it to join the server, here https://github.com/MCXboxBroadcast/Broadcaster
Another question. Even when I delete the region folder, the world doesnt change. Can this have to do with chunky?
Ill check it out
deleting the region folder only resets terrain, but the seed will stay the same unless you delete the level.dat and level.dat_old files as well
oh
or you can set a custom seed in server.properties then delete those files if you want
the new level.dat files will have the seed in server.properties if you set one
they're in the world folder
its one method, you can set a custom seed and not a random one if you choose
alr
when you said method, were you talking about the ps4 thing?
btw I recommend that you just make an extra Microsoft account for this and not your main if you use this method.
but also the extension seems to have some bugs
No I was talking about the world but I misunderstood it
Hopefully the ps4 client will get it work without it
maybe just use this method, well I mean the other person has to do it
Here's the video to setup voice chat, I did it slow in the video so that you can copy easily, but if you do it fast, you can have like 20 bots made pretty quickly
https://youtu.be/9WV_R2cy-so
Thank you!
np
sorry for bad quality, youtube does not play well with my screen resolution, and it's way too big for discord
Np
These are the commands that you use for the discord voice chat
taken from the mod page
Hello again, how is it supposed to look when its rendering? The progressbar shows up but I dont see any chunks updating and xaeros world map doesnt change. Is that how it should be?
@last forum
You're talking about chunky right? Also the right term is generating, the server generates chunks, the player renders them. Xaero's world map will only show the newly generated chunks once you explore them and they get rendered, and you won't see chunks updating because the chunks in your render distance already generate and get rendered. And the chunks generated by chunky would be outside of your render distance, so you wouldn't see them.
Also you can have Distant Horizons on the server (and client, which is the player) if you want to see chunks outside of your render distance without exploring them first. There might be lag tho if you have DH installed on the server.
Wow, thx for the info. Ill be testing tomorrow. The server is great by the way! Im really thankful for allt the help!
That's great to hear!
Are there any risks in using distant horizons on your server like corrupted worlds for example?
No
The bedrock players had the right skin at first, but then it changed and is different every time they join. You know why? @last forum
That's weird, floodgate should be managing all skins, it could be because of a mod you might have installed like skinsrestorer or other skin mods, but if it's not that then I'm not sure.
@last forum
Those all seem fine, the only thing I could suggest is updating floodgate if it's not already on the latest release. (latest version: https://modrinth.com/mod/floodgate/version/2.2.4-b44)
Maybe asking for help in #support could help if that doesn't fix it
alr, ill try!
I dm'd you this too, but since you didn't respond and it's been a while I'll say it here too.
The version of Geyser-Fabric for 1.21.4 no longer works after the new 1.21.80 bedrock update. Geyser-Standalone works, but you can also use this.
I backported bedrock 1.21.80 support to geyser fabric 1.21.4, its unofficial, but you can use it if you wish https://github.com/virtualspan/Geyser-Fabric-NeoForge-1.21.4-Backport
I don't have a clue why I haven't got no notification. Man youre a legend, I'll try the backported version as soon as I can!
ok, np
There's a new release now, and it has Vibrant Visuals support!
https://github.com/virtualspan/Geyser-Fabric-NeoForge-1.21.4-Backport/releases/tag/commit-503087a
So this would work like fabric_geyser I had before?
yeah
its just a backported version of geyser-fabric, so you can put it in the mods folder
Alr!
btw if it wasn't clear, you should also delete the old geyser-fabric mod, and replace it with the backported one
@twilit fractal
Yes okay
Hey how did you do this?
Then for voice chat, you need to port forward/allocate 24454 (as udp if there's an option)
Then restart.
And just copy what I did in the video
https://youtu.be/9WV_R2cy-so
Btw here are the commands for the mod
but you could just use /dvc start to use most of the functionality, so it's not that complicated
@twilit fractal Just in case you didn't get a notification like last time, I replied to your DM
