Has anyone ever tried to program the protective cover for the rotor brake switch in the ATR 72? It could be replicated quite nicely using two switches.

You mean a mechanical solution?

I remember someone doing this with a small magnet embedded in the cover, and a hall sensor behind the panel

or even a tiny pushbutton with a thin shaft that pokes jus a bit throuhg a hole in the panel that the cover pushes down when it is opened

The problem is controlling the simulator by operating the cover. I haven’t found a suitable command yet. Nevertheless, the idea of using a sensor and a magnet is perfect—thanks a lot for that!

Maybe someone knows the correct command.

The event notes for the prop brake switch lock command for MSATR (2020) mention the animation is controlled by an O: var. If using msfs2024, then you should be able to find the corresponding B: event that can trigger the animation too.
