#Potentiometer for WW FCU brightness

MF11.0.1, MS2024.
Maybe a stupid question but potentiometer as in picture, 5v,GND,Analog connected to board. I have added Input configs to MF but no input to MF.

So another for FCU Display and another potentiometer for FCU backlight.

No signal to MF from potentiometer.

enable log ("info" level, the default, is good)

and you see the values of the pot, to make sure the potentiometer device is configured and connected properly

I mean it has a potentiometer but it might have a bunch of other components also, not sure what is inside?

or at least I am not sure if it works like a potentiometer the same.

In any case, if you enable log you will see what values are read from it

This is some knob/“potentiometer” that ppl have used in A320 home cockpit projects so thought to pick these up..

I need to also check in the project forums..

I don’t need to have WW FCU profiled in MF right? It can be connected via SimAppPro and with MF I send input to MSFS which then forwards it to SimAppPro to dec/inc the brightness of panel?

yeah if the pot adjusts stuff in the sim it should work if simapp pro also reads the backlight value from the sim

see the log, if your pot generates values, it might have a MOSFET inside so not exactly sure if it works. So it first needs to show input events with a value in MF log so we know the wiring works

I am speculating this knob is designed to directly control led strips so it probably has a built in pwm generator. I only see voltage - + input and outputs connections. I would guess it could be connected to an Arduino analog port with a capacitor to smooth out the PWM signal.

yeah or it might contain one already. But need to see whether it creates any analog values first, from the log.

So I would need to remove the potentiometer from the board and resolder it as a potentiometer if want this one

Honestly, it would be much more convenient to save this device for another project and get yourself a naked B10K potentiometer.

ec11 is an encoder

we always say linear but I think logarithmic might work for backlight better?

You know, I have thought the same. Log potentiometers should work better than linear for light dimming.

One definitely will want linear potentiometers for axes control like throttle.
