#28byj-48 stepper motor weird behaviour

So I am in the process of making some steam gauges for stby instruments. For some reason my stepper motors are acting strange. They work for a few minutes and then they appear to get stuck. The gears sound like they are moving but there is no external movement. Initially I wondered if they were binding on the 3d print so I removed the motor. When I manually move the steps through mobiflight, sometimes it moves and other times it binds. Same when I use the test function. Im guessing it’s not a settings issue or it would never work. Could it be a defective batch of steppers? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Marc

The 28byj steppers require the correct pin assignments and in proper order

When you issue a movement instruction, you should see the four leds in the ULN2003 driver board turning on in sequence. Any led firing out of order means the order of the pins is not correctly assigned in Mobiflight.

@wind nexus thank you. Ill check that out first. Ive also read that its not best to power the steppers from the board so Ive ordered a separate 5v power source.

if you have just one it should work fine with arduino 5V
