Loaded mobiflight and loaded the 777 profile. Started MSFS2020, red LEDs turned to blue and the letters “MOBI” was displayed in the heading box. I launched my plane but the PAP3 didn’t work at all. Not sure if mobilflight was working.

you need to have a profile loaded that works with the particular plane. Search flightsim.to for PAP3 and the aircraft in question, people usually upload their profiles there
the "mobi" means the hardware is recognized but since every aircraft has different events and simulator variables to read and write data to and from, you need a specific profile for each plane.
you can do it yourself, but there probably are also existing ones some folks have created and shared on flightsim.to
