#tbm 930 Mini-Cockpit

Hello everyone,

I raided my father's old stash (he used to be an electronics hobbyist and service technician) and built myself a small mini-cockpit with the most important switches.

So far, so good – but now I'm stumbling over the fact that some things just don't work properly:

EXT LIGHTS
LDG/TAXI/OFF
PULSE
NAV
STROBE

INT LIGHTS
DIMMER
CABIN
ACCESS

ENGINE START
IGNITION

FUEL
FUEL SEL

DE ICE SYSTEM
PROP DE ICE
INERT SEP

PRESSURIZATION
DUMP
BLEED

AFCS
HDG
CRS 1
CRS 2
XFER
ALT SEL  No FAST mode
SPD  Switches the OSD but not inside the Garmin
LVL (Level flight)  Turns off LVL mode instead of turning it on

I spent hours and hours trying to get it all working, but even as a programmer, RPN is just wrecking me. I tried lots of config presets from hubhop or the built-in search in mobiflight. Many of them didn't work. Some i could figure out myself using the debug mode. But the former list is way to big to give some joy.

https://www.badcasserole.com/adding-workarounds-to-msfs2020-for-mobiflight/ points to the 930 MOD, but that’s been discontinued because it's supposedly “no longer needed.” The XML in the download link is broken (can’t be displayed in a browser) and non-functional.

Where do I go from here? Will switching to 2024 be the big breakthrough, or will half of it not work there either? After all these years, with countless upvotes about LVARS and still no progress from Asobo, I'm really starting to wonder whether I should just bury the whole project. I don't want to fly a 172.

Have a nice evening, everyone – and best regards.

Most of those were troublesome in 2020. In 2024 they should be easier to manage since Bvars are exposed now, although I don't believe anyone has documented all of them yet

#

The autopilot ones should be in HubHop for 2020, I used to use them all the time. They may just be the generic events from Microsoft, it's been a long time I don't remember

#

The ones that were troublesome if I remember right were inert sep, fuel sel, strobe. I don't think I used the pressurizaton ones or interior lights

Press i just added because i had a spare space and it looked weird. Nothing i really worry about as fire in the plane is no thing in msfs. But landing/ taxi lights are really needed 😦

There are events in HubHop for the landing/taxi light

#

You can find them in the MobiFlight input configuration dropdowns, filter by Asobo, TBM930, Lights

#

There are also presets for the strobe, nav, and pulse lights

Ok you're right. Had added them but sometime mobiflight crashed and it seems I forgot to re-add them (and thought they were not working). That reduces the list, but the rest I'm still trying to get as much as possible 😕

For the Heading encoder this seems to do the job. Took me ages to get anything meaningful out of MFScript ^^

360 (A:AUTOPILOT HEADING LOCK DIR:1, degrees) 1 - (A:AUTOPILOT HEADING LOCK DIR:1, degrees) 1 <= ? (>K:HEADING_BUG_SET)

This simplified code should do exactly the same for heading dec
(A:AUTOPILOT HEADING LOCK DIR:1, degrees) 1 - dnor (>K:HEADING_BUG_SET)

Thanks for the hint with dnor. Didn't know about it and thought it to be just a label. That really clears it up

There's events for IAS INC and DEC

#

It's been a long time since I used them, but you likely have to do a precondition on them and the VS mode ones to enable/disable based on the mode of the autopilot

ohh thank you 🙂

#

So what are you doing meanwhile? Have you switched to another airplane?

Yes, I fly the CJ4 now. They broke the TBM930 in one of the early MSFS 2020 updates (it would CTD every time I left KSEA), so I gave up and moved to the CJ4.

very unfortunate. the tbm is imho one of the best planes out there. It's small and light, has outstanding take-off performance but can fly "long haul". I really don't understand, why Asobo is treating it this way. Maybe, because it's still a "game" I guess?!
