#Operating multiple identical devices with a single config

It looks as though configs are bound to individual devices. I'm guessing this is achieved with the serial= attribute. Is it possible to use wildcards in the serial= value so that any device with the same name will work? I have 2 identical devices (Octavi clones) that I would like to work using the same config. If this is not feasible, is it a case of copying the profile and conducting search/replace, on the Pro Micro serial numbers then having to load the associated profile manually? The later option would be suboptimal for my use-case.

what are octavi clones? like two octavis?

lusty steeple
#

Yes, 2 Octavis. I made them.

Wildcards aren't supported

#

You could just pick the other device in the orphaned serials and it will map them over

#

If they will never be connected at the same time you could flash custom firmware with a hard coded serial so they both have the same one

Custom MobiFlight f/w?

wary storm
#

why do you want them to both work with the same config? What's the scenario?

lusty steeple
#

I'm not overly keen on maintaining 2 or more profiles

#

If I make changes to one, those same changes will need to be propagated over N profiles

spring trout

no

#

you can use a built-in function in MobiFlight

#

like @wary storm said.

#

You should see a dialog pop up ... maybe not, because it is a Joystick. The function is missing for Joysticks.

#

but it will come at some point.

lusty steeple
#

I haven't coded it as a joystick

#

I have received the serial popup. Just not sure what the ramifications were

spring trout
#

well then you should see the dialog popup. simply reassign the serial and hit OK

#

it has a text that describes what it is for.

lusty steeple
#

Okay, I'll have a play around with that

#

OOI, what does that do under the hood?

#

Does it change all of the serial numbers in the profile?

spring trout
#

yes
