I'm working on my FCU in the A32nx and the SPD and HDG displays are only showing 2 digits. (see pics) If I connect up 4 digit displays it shows up. I don't have any transform or compare set on these. The last pic shows with left paddin on but that was part of my testing, with it off it is the same issue.

It seems you may have the digit clusters connected to digits 1 2 3 instead of 0 1 2 in the Max chip.

#

I would specify 8 digits and then figure out which three digits are the ones actually connected.

These are connected to 1 and 2 of the MAX break out board (The top row)

#

Ok. I just tried doing all 8 digits.... why would it be on these for a 3 digit display?

because of the pin order in the digit clusters where the leftmost digit is always the first pin on the top left.

I know there is a doc out there that goes into detail about connecting these up but I cant seem to find it now

No I mean the one for the MF break out board

the breakout board uses max7219 chips, and the digit clusters are the same as are used in the 8 digit modules

#

if you see the two pictures I sent

just found it

a three digit cluster and a four digit cluster have the same pin arrangement... they only differ on the last pin because the four digit cluster has an extra digit which requires one extra pin.

#

So to make the connector work on both digit clusters, when a three digit cluster is used, you are actually connecting the 1 2 3 digits.

#

versus 0 1 2 3 when a four digit cluster is used.

Output config
Special feature with 3 digit displays
A special feature is the 3 digit displays. If 2 x 3 digits are used on connectors J2 and J3 in MobiFlight, care must be taken to ensure that they are each offset by one digit. A 3-digit display on J2 would therefore occupy digits 1, 2 and 3 in MobiFlight and on J3 digits 5, 6 and 7 in MobiFlight.
