Since 2 weeks I have the problem that my Firbolg fighters don't hit the fast NPC ships in the purple missions in HighSec. do any of you have a plan why this could be?

Speed issue maybe..?

Maybe swap out them out for the lighter fighters that are designed for targeting other fighters?
The larger ones like Firbolgs are intended more effective at the larger targets. The issue could also be that they can't physically move fast enough.

Well skilled firbolgs should have zero issues hitting NPC frigates..
I've never used them in a hi sec Lab, but can say that mine work just fine vs Minmatar/Angel rats, soo..
If low skilled however, could cause problems

Given the problem is only vs smaller targets 1 seems unlikely, otherwise if the orbit was just way too big it would affect all targets
Skill issue would be more pergaps no 'fighter' skill trained and their velocity is just so slow they can't catch up to frigs at all 🤷♂️
But then I guess not all NPC frigs are running fast..

You can get more tank if you pair the Shield command with the Central command, the Central command module boosts the shield command
When facing fast targets I always trigger the Warp booster
