Wrecked, smashed, etc.
How do these work. Is there any way to increase the chance to "crit".
I understand all the optimal range and accuracy fall off to make sure not to miss. But is crit chance set in stone for every one?
I have heard of un grouping weapons but idk I'd that really does anything, since i figure calculations internally will still be the same.

- You can't increase your crit rate. it's a random value
- However, when you shoot at optimal range, the chance of critical hit is higher.
- Of course, merging guns doesn't affect critical strikes.
Awesome this the kind of info i was looking for. Ty so much.
The above is inaccurate and should be taken with a grain of salt (a big one at that).
The way the game calculates what hit you get with turrets, is based off of your chance to hit being input into a formula to determine both hit-rate and hit-quality.
The higher the number that is rolled in the background, the higher the hit-chance + damage modifier is, however, it still needs to pass the hit-check to do the damage (obviously)
For example:
100% hit-rate will give turrets between 50% and 149% of their base damage
a 70% hit-rate shrinks this to 50% - 119%.
a 30% hit-rate would put this down to 50% - 79% and so on
The exception to this is the 1% wrecking shot modifier, which by default will always hit if it rolls due to the nature of the calculation (However: If your chance to hit is 0.25%, it still needs to roll under this to actually hit and become a wrecking shot)
There is no way to manually increase wrecking shots. However, you can position yourself in an optimal way to insure you have the highest hit-chance possible, which then also increases the likelyhood of penetrating/smashing shots
Grouping weapons calculates the entire stack at once, and then gives you a hit description based on the average modifier that was rolled.
So if you have 4 guns that rolled say, 70%/100%/125%/140% modifiers, it will average out to 108.75% and only show "Penetrates" - even tho 2 of them were smashing hits.
This leads to a very common misconception that you can never "crit" (wrecking) with stacked guns.
You can, but its very unlikely you'll ever see it show up on a stack, because the entire stack needs to "crit" for it to display, otherwise it will just display as "smashes"
