Merge Elite 8's with RemiXD 8's

Here's a makeshift poll y'all can use to debate whether the Elite 8's should be merged with the RemiXD 8's!

If both events are merged, this would make Elite 8's a RemiXD-only 8-player tournament bracket. This would make the tournament monthly schedule a cycle between Open 8's and the new Elite 8's.

If they are kept separate, Elite 8's remains XD-only and RemiXD 8's would be added to the cycle of tournaments: Open 8's one month, Elite 8's the next, and RemiXD 8's the month after that.

Merge but run Open & Elite once each per month.

I like the balance of anticipation with the less frequent tourneys, personally

yeah I think it's good as is, too frequent could very well make it less interesting

What might happen with the merge though is that people will be playing only RemiXD on Elite, turning Open in an XD only competition. Maybe it's inevitable since people tend to compete only on the highest diff

Being open for all diffs doesn't make sense anyway honestly. Most people already play on XD and if someone on a lower diff joins then they will most likely be immediately beaten. I would love to see more low-diff competition but O8s just aren't the place for it.

I remember going against someone and they played on H or EX, i can't remember, but apart from that time I personally haven't seen anyone else to my memory playing on a lower diff

Yeah maybe an Expert competition would take the pressure off all those that dont feel ready fr XD. I bet a lot of people that feel intimidated by Open 8 would suddenly pop up

sure, but the community is too small to make more competitions feasible sadly

The Open 8s are basically to give anyone a shot at playing in a tournament, especially players that have never competed before. The fact that it's open to all difficulties is one of the ways we reduce the amount of potential barriers to participation

I try to emphasize and encourage fun over everything else when it comes to the Open 8s

oh yeah for sure, it's definitely good to allow the lower diffs a chance to play in a tourney
