#Should there be a "#zig-questions" channel?

We all see the shrimple questions in #zig , and of course we have #1019652020308824145 . Of course, despite zig-help existing, a lot of questions still get asked in zig. For me personally, I think this is because making a forum-post in #1019652020308824145 feels a little overkill for something like "how do I assign to a pointer" and other simple-y questions.

Maybe having a channel for 'simple' questions (rather, questions that people petitioning for help expect to be simple) would help quarantine this kind of post and keep #zig cleaner and more-focused.

This recommendation is colored by my own biases. I occasionally fire off a little question in #zig, if its either:

  1. Not really a help ask, or
  2. I really do expect it to be a one-line sol'n.

I don't know why, but I do know that I feel that way.

As an aside, I have been gently encouraged to use the help forum when I asked a question that was not for help. I think it was idle curiousity with, uh, comptime pointers or something.

Or maybe it was noreturn. In any case! Not all questions are petitions for help.

Not arguing against your suggestion per se, I just don’t get it. The channel is straight up named “zig help” and the rules and channel description of #zig says to always ask questions in #1019652020308824145

the counter inutitive thing with threads/issues for help is that its actually better the smaller the question

the other thing that stops ppl from opening threads is fear that it makes them look bad but that's not the case if safe space is maintained by participants/mods
