Not to brag, but I have bordering on 150 Friends. With Friends like these... I can't keep track of them. I'm seriously considering a spreadsheet. More/new systems in the game to assist with Friend organization would help greatly, as the number just grows and grows. Ideas:
Filter by buckets, letting me make custom Friend categories
Sort by Friendship, to see who I'm neglecting
Sort by English name
Sort by game release (All EoSD characters, followed by PCB, etc.)
Filter by capable element attacks
Filter by Link type
Filter by resistances/weaknesses
Fix Anima filtering
As an option, do not put party Friends at the top of a sort

"Sort by game release" is in the game actually, if you sort by Universe all your L1 characters will be organized by game. You can't filter by game though which might be what you're asking for

I think that in the last updates on the Japanese version, there are new sorting filters : maybe it will come soon in the global version
