Calculating Your Tarot Birthcards submitted by @jagged river
how to calculate birth cards!

from labyrinthos site
We start by breaking your birthday into 4 groups of 2 digits each such that you can add these two digit numbers together like so: MM + DD + YY + YY
If the sum is a 2 digit-number, add them together. This is your first birth card. Reduce this to a single digit to get your second birth card.
Ex: 11 + 22 + 20 + 00 = 53
5 + 3 = 8: Strength - First Card
8 = 1 + 7 = 17: The Star - Second Card
If the sum is a 3 digit-number, add the first 2 digits with the 3rd digit. This is your first birth card. Reduce this to a single digit to get your second birth card.
Ex: 07 + 20 + 19 + 89 = 135
13 + 5 = 18: Moon - First Card
1 + 8 = 9: Hermit - Second Card
One exception to all these rules is when your sum equals 19. Most people will have 2 cards, but those with this sum will have 3. This is because 1 + 9 = 10, and 1 + 0 = 1, effectively making your cards The Sun, The Wheel and The Magician

from the Griffin System (strangebrainrot#5965)

  • If you wind up with a number like ours (44), you just find the number that comes to the same total that also creates a member of the major arcana

you can also use these: https://www.tarotschool.com/Calculator.html / https://labyrinthos.co/pages/calculate-your-tarot-birth-card

Scrying by wrennn#5942
Image Text:
scrying
there are many possible etymological sources of the word
one is "descry" which means to catch sight of
scrying is basically looking into a medium to catch sight of something to be interpreted

mediums can include

  • fire
  • water/liquid
  • a crystal ball
  • mirrors
  • smoke/fog/clouds
in each medium, the way one scries can vary.
the areas of shadows and light are often used to make out images to be interpreted in crystal balls, mirrors (especially black mirrors), and liquids as they are reflective (for example: seeing a silhouette)
more intricate images may be seen in fire, clouds, fog, or smoke. one may also use the color variations in these mediums in their interpretation.
other things may be used to augment your scrying experience. using a specific crystal for a crystal ball, using substances that change the color of smoke, water or fire, and more.

How to: Pendulums for Beginners by oceanicegg
Okay so pendulums!
You'll want to cleanse it first. My preferred method of this is tap it three times in the center of the area over where I'll be using it then letting it sway over smoke while just kinda chatting with it. I tell it about what I'm wanting to talk to it about and thank it for it's help. I avoid questions while cleansing though.
Once I feel nice and in sync with my pendulum, I ask it what direction means what. The way I do this is by asking "How will you move for yes?" "How will you move for no?" "How will you move for maybe?" "How will you move for unwilling to answer?".
Once my directions are assigned, I start my questions.
When I'm done with my questions, I tell my pendulum I'm done, say goodbye, and tap it three times in the same place I did at the start.

Before starting I always like to write down my questions beforehand in my divination notebook and then make notes of the answers and such as I go. I never stick to it completely, but it helps me stay organized and keep in the right mentality.

While using it I always sit cross legged and prop my elbow on my knee to help me stay steady.

Tarot Reviews Blog and a List of Inclusive decks submitted by quifflesnix#3177

It's a working list made by someone I follow on Instagram named Asali (@asaliearthwork) of tarot decks that are "inclusive- specifically connecting with queer, trans, and people of color." Make sure to read the text before and after the list as there are a few disclaimers!

Tarot Card Cord Cutting by quifflesnix
Intention

  • To sever the connection between you and another person or feeling using tarot cards.

Items & Ingredients

  • CARD A: a card representing who or what you are cutting off
  • CARD B: a card representing you and who you want to be after this spell
  • a piece of string (at least a foot long) in whatever color you choose
  • scissors

Instructions

  1. Cleanse and protect your space.
  2. Lay the piece of string flat horizontally in front of you.
  3. Set card A on the left end of the string, set card B on the right end of the string.
  4. Take a few moments to contemplate card A and why you're choosing to cut it out of your life. What parts of you has it held back? How much has it stopped you from being your true self? Try to observe these thoughts objectively and don't focus on pain or negative emotions.
  5. Take a few moments to contemplate card B and how your life will be different without card A. How will it open up opportunities for growth? What kind of freedoms will you enjoy now? What kind of person do you want to cultivate within yourself?
  6. Get your scissors ready.
  7. Recite the following:
To the left is what was, and I'm letting go now.
To the right is what is, beginning right now.
  8. Cut the string right in the middle.
  9. Throw away the string in the trash. You don't need it anymore

Notes
• Choose the cards intentionally, but use your intuition. It doesn't have to be literal, but what the cards mean to you should inform your decision.

Deity Dossier submitted by quffliesnix / transcribed by @zealous nest

  1. SPIRIT OR SIGNIFACTION: This represents the spirit, deity etc. This card can be drawn or selected depending on if you know the nature of the spirit or a card that could represent them.
  2. PAST: These are past deeds or dealings the spirit has had with either other people or you that you should know about
  3. UNDERLYING INFLUENCES: Similar to PAST, this represents the influences that could be important to know. this may be an emotional thing rather than a past action (EX if a spirit was in the past betrayed by humans, would be less likely interested in working with humans)
  4. ATTITUDE AND THOUGHTS: General personality/how they work and think
  5. PRESENT THEIR CURRENT STATUS: If the spirit is in trouble, this information would be revealed in this card
  6. SITUATION AT HAND (optional): If there's a specific situation at hand, this would reveal the reason
  7. HEALTH: The health of the deity, spirit or being
  8. MIND: The mental health or possibly overall mood of the being
  9. PHYSICAL: Their physical health or how they are physically manifesting. This is specifically useful for figuring out which deity is reaching out to you/how they are reaching out
  10. THINGS THEY LIKE TO DO: Could be for others, part of their sphere of influence, or things used to connect or honor them
  11. WHAT TO KNOW: Things that are important for you to know. This could be used to to see how working with this deity could affect your future
  12. WHAT TO AVOID: Things that are important for you to avoid doing. This could also be used to see how working with this deity could affect you negatively in the future
  13. POSITIVE INFLUENCES: What is helpful? What will help your relationship with them? This is something that is not in the being's sphere of influence but still influences them. For example, a deity could be a deity of fertility but have a sibling who is a deity of war. This would still someone influence the way the deity acts. Another example is outside influences like a nearby coven increasing their power
  14. NEGATIVE INFLUENCES: Exactly as above, but the negative side of things. What isn't helping this being? What will not help your relationship with them? Do they feel ignored or not appreciated? Taken advantage of?
  15. CONCIOUS DESIRES: What they want. This could be offerings or their general goal. This may be what they want from you. If they have an agenda they'll admit to, it will be here
  16. UNCONCIOUS DESIRES: This is what they want but won't admit to or what they don't know they want. If they have a hidden agenda, it will be here
  17. HOPES: This can be a general list of hopes or an overall hope for the future, or what they hope to get from you
  18. FEARS: This can be a general list of fears or what they fear for the future, what they're concerned about in regards to you or your life

Labyrinthos

The Tarot was linked with Astrology first through the Golden Dawn, an esoteric order whose most prominent members included Aleister Crowley (who authored the Thoth deck) and Arther Edward Waite (of the Rider-Waite deck), both of whom were instrumental in establishing the traditions in tarot that we have today.

Tea Reading Method by @glass shore
This is a method I learned from my family:
The ingredients of the tea have properties that relate to the reading. Using those you can correlate what's in the tea with the images the tea gives you.
Once you've drunk the tea, you can then interpret your tea reading based 2 ways (east and west) much like reversed/upright with tarot.

**The Waterfall Spread **by beautifulthorns
[Image Text]

Three rows of cards. Pulling the first three at the beginning, the second three in the middle, and the last three at the end.

The idea behind this spread is to develop the reading and the full interpretation slowly over the course of a week (or a month). This encourages you to slow down and pay more attention to the individual pieces and parts of a reading and why they're important.

A good way to read this spread is to think about the cards as a paragraph, your first row is your first sentence, second is your second sentence, and so on.

Mastering the Bernie's Basics: Vet Yourself infographic by me
(image text)
Divination
Use of divination is common for vetting and is something that has various methods. A method that has clear yes / no / maybe answers will work best for vetting.

What's the point
The point of this exercise is to help you gain the skill of learning how to vet. Some find the skill difficult to master so practicing on yourself can be a great way for you to understand how it works.
You can also make more questions or use other methods outside of what's mentioned here.

Some questions to ask
Appearance

  • Is my hair ___ color?
  • Do I have tattoos?
    Relationships
  • Am I an only child?
  • Is my mother’s name ____?
    Practice
  • Do I use ___ in my practice?
  • Is ___ a label I use?
    Goals & Accomplishments

Loteria as Divination Meanings by me
So its not a common practice by any means and these arent like set meanings because you are turning a bingo game into a method of divination which means you are kinda making stuff up as you go.
this is a list of meanings based on this persons experience and use of the "phrases" that come with them: https://www.worlddivinationassociation.com/mexican-loteria

Making tarot spreads/questions with dice by me
This method is going to be using both sacred geometry and numerology in order to create a base for questions.

So firstly: decide what dice you're going to be using in terms of creating a reading.

Then use the dice to create your questions. There are multiple ways that you can do this by taking into account a few different things about the dice themselves:

  • firstly is going to be the shape of the die your normal D6 will have a square face so that may be something that you will use in terms of stability squares are very stable structures for a reason and they're also very grounding for example. (for more complicated types of shapes like your polyhedrons (aka D12/d20) & d10/100, I highly recommend looking into sacred geometry as that can give you a better outlook on what these shapes mean)
  • next you're going to want to look at the number so whatever you roll maybe something that indicates where/when/why/how that dices is going to take effect in your life.
  • Additionally dice placement may be important to how questions relate to each other. Your d20 landing by your D6 may be that your decision card (d20) will influence your stability card (d6) as an example.

And lastly you would pull a card associated with the questions you've created.
__
so if we're going to use my method my dice would be: the D4

D4 - the D4 is made up of triangles which represent harmony and balance!

roll your dice:
d4 (rolled a 4) with it being 4 this represents being constructive and practical

In this reading I could say that I would be using the shape of the dice and the number it falls on to create the question(s):
"where do I need balance" and "how can I achieve that practically?"

so as you can see starting off you already have two questions that you can build a reading off of what this would look like in practice would be me rolling my Dice and then pulling a card for each of those questions ending up with the images below.

The more dice you add the more questions you can create and you can combine them to create different reads. Maybe only using shapes or only using numbers for a read, or only using dice with numbers below 10.

Book Review by @glass shore
The Tarot Spellbook
-# **+ 78 witchy ways to use your tarot deck for magick & manifestation **
By Sam Magdaleno
and why it's the best spellbook I've ever read

What it includes
A spell for every tarot card! Ranging from career focus, relationships, personal goals, protection and in-between. Starting point for using tarot in spellwork and ideas on how to start one's grimore. While focused on the standard rider-waite-smith deck author does mention other card uses. Small potion on starting general magic such as protection, cleansing and grounding.

  • Inclusiveness
Author shares and encourages ways to incorporate spellwork into everyday activities, for closet craft, and those with low energy or small time periods. It's incredibly inclusive of different lifestyles and what may/may not be available to people.

  • Beginner Friendly
Every step and item is broken down and explained to help both new witches, inexperienced with tarot, and those who just wonder why. "It was written to help you learn." There is a wonderful glossary, index and breakdown of titles for quick references.

  • Reading, and Learning
Author encourages reader to understand the action before partaking. There's explanations both magic and physical safety instances.

  • Growth
Author provides practices and methods one can use throughout their craft and reference back to as a base. Greatly encourages Learning beyond the book. Small entries include Journaling prompts for personal grimoires.

  • Layout
The writing, illustrations, descriptions and little artistic flairs makes this book a treat to flip through. Never felt overwhelming to look at, or to childish to take seriously. Everything is very easy to find for reference and recall.

What I Didn't Like

  • Magick
A small nitpick, but the spelling "magick" [magic] is used. Magick was a spelling pushed by Crowley, who was a horrible person. Nothing else in the book did anything close to making me squint. Author just really likes this spelling.

Animal Cracker Divination by @glass shore
-# Because its National Animal Cracker Day
The traditional American box of animal crackers / cookies currently includes; bear, bison, camel, cougar, elephant, giraffe, gorilla, hippopotamus, hyena, kangaroo, koala, lion, monkey, rhinoceros, seal, sheep, tiger, and zebra.

Individual Meaning:

  • Bear: disguises, protection, power, authority, solitude, royalty, grounding, rest
  • Bison: Humility, service, gratitude, family, perseverance, endurance
  • Camel: endurance, preservation, adaptability, resilience, humility
  • Cougar: Patience, observation, dependance, responsibility, courage, leadership
  • Elephant: wisdom, luck, intelligence, loyalty, power, prosperity, family, strength, overcoming obstacles, ancient wisdom, social needs
  • Giraffe: grace, patience, kindness, empathy, higher consciousness
  • Gorilla: strength, leadership, intelligence, communication
  • Hippopotamus: surprises, emotional depth, nurturing
  • Hyena: Optimism, resilience, rituals, completion
  • Kangaroo: family, hierarchy, leadership, responsibility
  • Koala: spiritual forces, nurturing, stubbornness, boundaries
  • Lion: Pride, leadership, authority, dignity, ambition
  • Monkey: Curiosity, cleverness, imaginative
  • Rhinoceros: strength, perseverance , knowledge, wisdom
  • Seal: Optimism, peace, imagination, adaptability, loyalty, happiness
  • Sheep: Humble, peace, fertility, compassion, purity, innocence, courage
  • Tiger: Valor, pride, power, devotion, fearlessness, vigor, royalty
  • Zebra: duality, clarity, discernment, trickery
Vague "what is this" animal: Consider what it's supposed to look like. How many legs, how big, what appendages appear to be missing? Would those be significant?

How to Divine:

  • Fortune Draw
Nothing like a mixed bag to represent a shuffled deck of cards. Ask a question, and draw a cracker for an answer! Similar to tarot or charm pulling

  • Throwing
Grab a handful, and toss on a plate. Take note of how they land, if any pieces break, or if any are stuck together and become separated. Similar to charm casting or rune throwing.

  • Milk / Tea Drinking
Depending on your animals they may be more cookie or cracker so your choice of dunking is up to you. Dunk and drink away, then see what you can in the crumbs left over. Similar to reading tea leaves.

Astragalomancy with 6 sided dice by @woven sage
(IMAGE TEXT)

Roll 3 6-sided dice. The total number is your general reading, the lowest possible outcome being 3 and highest being 18. These definitions are on dice divination specifically and sometimes differ to other variations in numerology such as angel numbers.

  1. Foruntate, time of plenty and good luck. Harmony, wisdom, and understanding.
  2. Temporary setback but not the end. Possibly an unpleasant surprise that will resolve itself.
  3. Something new. A positive roll. Adventure and change.
  4. Be on guard, but understanding. You may have someone come to you for help.
  5. Trouble, gossip, scandal. Relationships might become rocky. Seek the truth.
  6. Stability and slowness, take things slowly and don't be reckless. Make decisions carefully. Manage things carefully.
  7. Passion, romance, love. New relationships, or rekindling of old one.
  8. Creative energies, new ideas and new opportunities.
    Astragalomancy with 6 sided dice
  9. Setback. A trying time, but temporary. Self care is important. A time of growing.
  10. New beginnings and personal growth. Hope, and easier times ahead.
  11. Stress, depression, anxiety, general negativity. Focus on the light and remember that it's darkest before the dawn. A time of transformation which is not always easy.
  12. Social gathering that brings good fortune and happy times. Not the time to avoid socialising. There could be new beginnings here.
  13. Rapid changes, chaos and opportunities. Be mindful of risks. Potential for growth.
  14. Travel is indicated. Long distance or short trip. Don't ignore the call to travel, you may miss an opportunity. Encouragement.
  15. Shift in opinions, emotions or feelings. Be observant and in tune with the emotions of yourself and others.
  16. Success and the obtainment of goals. Past efforts are about to pay off, keep your eye on the target.

You can also use specific coloured dice to generate more specific readings. Each colour is connected to an aspect of life.

Black/white - personal choice.
Red - often associated love, passion, or anger. A colour to use for relationship readings.
Yellow - a bright colour, often associated with happiness. A colour to use for general life readings
Blue - a calming colour often used to help create relaxing environments. A colour to use for wellbeing readings
Green - A colour often associated with money. A colour to use for financial readings, or readings regarding jobs.
Purple - often symbolises mystery or spirituality. A colour to use for religious readings.

In this case, you would choose a colour and roll just one die. The lowest outcome in this case would be 1 and the highest would be 6. 3-6 are listed above. The others are;

  1. New beginnings and confidence
  2. A choice needs to be made. There is a need for balance.

For 'yes or no' questions; Even = Yes, Odd = No

Cherry Divination by @glass shore
-# blurb from this post (#1114060280004087869 message)

Divination:
Cherry pits can but used as thrown divination tools. Use a pendulum board, dart board, paper towel or any base wanted, toss them and determine their meanings based on where they land. Extra; don't clean them before hand and take into account the trails they make when rolled. (white bar soap and cold water works to remove stains quite well

A little tidbit from a Seer by @full echo
In my experience as a seer, visions and foretellings can come in a multitude of different forms, so I’ve compiled a list of some ones I’ve commonly experienced

  • Signs and Symbols
This can mean seeing actual physical signs or symbols in the world around you, or (for me) more commonly a bunch of symbols and signs will flit through your head in a particular order. My advice for when that happens - close your eyes for even a moment if you can, and focus on what symbols you can remember, and sketch them out on a sheet of paper.

  • Dreams
Visions of what’s may be to come can come to you in dreams, particularly if those dreams are vivid and stick in your mind when you wake up. Write down anything and everything you can remember from the dream, you never know if it may trigger a vision in a different form just to see the dream described

  • Words
This is the one most people, particularly non witches and non seers, think of when they think of what a seer does. It’s when the future comes to us in the form of cryptic phrases or even entire poems that suddenly formulate in our head for no clear reason. Obviously, WRITE THEM DOWN.

There are definitely more ways visions can manifest, but these are the three that are most common in my experience.

HOW TO TAROT WITH PLAYING CARDS by @summer pumice
too broke for tarot cards? stuck in the broom closet? just can't be bothered memorising all those damn major arcana?
good news! you can just use playing cards!
Each suit is equivalent to a suit in a tarot deck.
hearts = cups
spades = swords
diamonds = pentacles/coins
clubs = wands/staves
Then, you have the face cards. These are equivalent to the Page, Queen, and King of each suit. There is no knight equivalent (there's only so many cards in a deck)

Here's a basic rundown of what the first 10 cards in the deck mean:
ace: beginnings (aces are always positive and represent the new)
two: balance (or delays, waiting)
three: connection (or division, mixed up communication, plans gone awry)
four: stability (alternatively, feeling stuck)
five: disturbance (or challenges that can lead to expansion)
six: harmony (or the lack of/yearning for it, but sixes are rarely negative)
seven: mystery (or being overly concerned with superficialities)
eight: movement (or the lack of it, stagnation)
nine: growth (or satiety (fullness), stagnation)
ten: completion (or new beginnings, or new ending, too)
if you wanna make it more complicated, you can also add in some numerology.
