I’m sorry to say but shield is a confirmed no from the dev

shields have been a confirmed no, even if it's the buckler, a shield built with curved edges to be meant specifically for parrying

aditionally, damage reduction could be seen as a " defensive " item which " is a nightmare to balance "

aditionally bucklers are kinda tiny and only really built for parrying aswell so i don't think blocking or reducing would work

also you need a secondary, even if it replaces them it would be definetely hard to code and would mess up the flor and field of the weapons

even after that for most weapons, other than sword, replacing your secondary would be COMPLETELY unbalanced

additionally tome's buckler shield is super unbalanced

and, most of the buckler shield functions on the weapons would completely make many beastblood upgrades useless
