I feel like there should be a fists weapon, like an actual weapon. Here's my idea, You can dash using the "take out the main weapon" button, kinda like the messengers mark, the reason for this is because you aren't carrying any weapons so you're lighter, and for the ranged attack it would shoot out a ghost replica of your fist if you punch the air while having the "second weapon" out, like the throwing knife. It would require a new achievement called "fists only" where you would need to complete an entire floor with only your hands. no sword and knife, and no crossbow. Also some relics like the possessed hammer will make a green ghost fist that's bigger than the normal fists instead of making the blade bigger. There would also be an insight upgrade needed to unlock it.
