What if the merchants (or someone else… ng+ hole digger’s abandoned camp spots maybe?) set up locations in the areas that the potatoes after bosses are at currently with all of the normal stuff there and the save point moved out of the next floor? It just don’t really transition very smoothly between areas; far too abrupt and sudden an environment change without any reliever.

i agree that the transition is kind of abrupt, but i dont think a station like you describe is the right solution
