We are aware of the issue. No estimate when this will be fixed.
Goto settings, in-game overlay, turn this feature off for now. Use your second monitor or a phone/tablet to read chat. If you can play your game in windowed mode, you can popup Twitch Chat from the browser and position it on the side. Please report the bug by utilizing the Help button in the app.

I came to make some kind of report ticket, and see it's been addressed immediately on the same day it became a problem. I've got much love for twitch studios. On a minor note, as it has a size scaling, the black bar is reduced when you slide the scale to 50%. It increases in size with chat, but it is significantly more manageable.

I noticed you can't move the position of the bar as well, Ive always had mine set to the bottom left and it wouldn't budge from the top left dispite alterating the size or position. Hope that also helps! The bar blocking the top is pretty bad xD

ALT +SHIFT+ O, that input will hide your twitch in game overlay but you will not see chat on screen

guess you can't really if not available by twitch directly cause it's seems to be a bootstraped application running electron after,s o you dotn really download the application but an appllication that download the application if needed by checking for updates, kinda like discord if thta make sense

There are less drastic alternatives than switching streaming programs. You can monitor chat on a second device, like your phone or a second monitor. Or, if your game allows windowed mode, you can adjust the size of the window so you can see chat on the side.
