#logo/brand design

A lot of businesses don't have logos, but if you want one, do you have any ideas or themes you would like to incorporate?
Looking at branding my crafts with the logo as a maker's mark.
Either western dragon head or a lion with a mane of fire
Maybe a hammer as well
If you are thinking about using it as a makers mark too, consider how it will be applied and how big it would be, that would give a starting point for the amount of detail to use. You could also try some ai generators to get ideas if you aren't artistic in that area
I have thought about application methods for different crafts.
Not much bigger then 2 square inches and low detailing.
I have tried ai and didn't see anything that jumped out and I prefer to support human work as much as possible
Oh, final image I would definitely go with a human artist, but clipart and ai could give a starting point to get the idea worked out first
These are the best options that I found. Via ai and the first 2 look the best in my opinion.
I know that the first 3 are highly detailed
I like the second one personally. A human artist could fix it to lose some detail but still look good. Are you wanting to stamp, laser engrave, brand or use a sticker?
Stamp for leather and metal to start but a laser engrave file would also work well in case I need to speed things up
So keep that in mind with the design phase, you will have to figure how you are adding the design to products and going too large may turn people off if its visible in the end product
Was thinking no bigger then a thumb print for most projects
I recommend printing it out in black and white or grayscale and putting it in places you will look at it often to see what you think of it in a couple weeks. It will give you the insight on what you like about it and what you would like to change
Yes
Testing is the easy part
I got my logo using 99 Designs. I did a contest and absolutely love what they came up with: https://www.thirdmountainmartialarts.com/
I have also worked with Leah Tiscione. She was cheaper than 99 Designs and did a great job listening to me. https://www.leahtiscione.com/design
One thing I would suggest - include your name in the logo. I'm involved in the custom knife world, and there's always people trying to identify knives that they have inherited, or been gifted, or picked up second hand, and if there is only an image it can be super hard to identify the maker. The main reason for marking your work is so that people who see it can identify you, and lions, dragons and flames (while VERY cool) are among the more common images used for maker's marks.
If you see the recent water skin video, @vagrant meteor shows a close up of the marking knife I sent @fresh radish (🤣) and you can see that my mark on those is simply "Ronald Handmade" in a specific font. Very hard to mistake for someone else!
