#shadow crystal functions as seperate items

The shadow crystal right now has three functions:

  • transforming
  • warp
  • change time of day

Would it be possible to let these unlocks be seperate checks? I am unsure if progressive items is the right way to do it. Probably not.
The item display could still be the shadow crystal for all three.

At least from a code perspective, changing time of day could theoretically be its own thing assuming we had available itemIDs

Isn't time of day already possible as human? I would always start with that item if this split happened
But I can definitely get behind warping and transforming being split off into different items because that would nerf the shadow crystal's overpoweredness, although other suggestions recently would also nerf it.

You're right, I was focused on if it was possible or not and missed that. In the next version, changing time of day is no longer tied to the shadow crystal. It is available as long as you can talk to Midna, so basically anytime after the prologue. I don't think we will have itemIDs to do this at the moment anyway, but if it was its own item we would probably want people to have to opt out of being able to change time of day by default rather than opt in
