An optional choice to turn Magic Armor from being temporary invincible with rupee drain, into a permanent double defense armor as long as equipped.

Magic Armor looks really cool, especially with Skilar's mods to have Fierce Deity skin to be over Magic Armor.

The point of this suggestion is generally most people never wear Magic Armor because it makes you invincible and drains rupees, which means for any area not the Cave of Ordeals its OoT Iron Boots all over again ( pause, unpause ) because unless you constantly pause to equip/unequip it will drain all your rupees and make you slow and turn ugly = bad.

So with this option Magic Armor will be a truly worthy find, as not only will players get a stylish boost to their tunic but a permanent defense upgrade, which works great now that the rando has options like x4 damage.

This will make Magic Armor more in line with the Blue Tunic of 2D Zelda, or Double Defense in OoT and MM.

I can understand this from the perspective of wanting to see a custom model. I don't agree that making things in this game "more in line" with other games is inherently a good reason to make changes.

This suggestion changes how MA functions logically since it no longer allows you to drain your Rupees from anywhere. Not sure this that would ever be relevant with our logic files, but wanted to mention it. If you were to have 0 Rupees and do an underwater check that gives you an orange Rupee, then you float back up to the top and you need to go somewhere else to find a way to sink back in the water. In this way this kind of depends on another effort to allow you to toggle the heavy state of MA. It is not really clear to me how the heavy state is intended to function with this suggestion.

I don't know how the logic works currently if Magic Armor is in logic for Iron Boots checks

#

Preferably all underwater checks would be locked behind Iron Boots with this option on, OR maybe a toggle with this option to swap between light and heavy mode, like L+ R

The toggle suggestion already exists and has a very good chance of happening at some point. I think this suggestion is probably blocked by that one getting worked. You could technically work this one before, but anyone who uses Magic Armor as a logical tool probably would not use this setting which is fine I guess

The main thing is for glitched and no logic, the magic armor is pretty important for the drained state. (Not just for underwater without boots, but also moon boots) Not being able to drain ruppees without trill is a big thing to deal with.

However, if the toggle were to be implemented for the drained state, I would actually like this setting. I've been wanting to have more use for magic armor now that I don't do COO and aside from logic things I don't do. It looks cool even in vanilla.
And it would encourage me to try higher damage multipliers for the challenge.

I think this would be a good option to pair with the toggle. I think I would enjoy running around in the Magic Armor if it didn't drain rupees.

And in the end it is just an option to use.
If someone dont want it, they dont have to enable it and for racing purpose just dont allow it in races.
I dont see any harm to do that for people playing just for fun.

This suggestion makes absolute perfect sense. I've NEVER used the Magic Armor because of the stupid rupee drain mechanism. You make it Double Defense, and it's WORTH it.

"But won't that make the Hero's Clothes useless?"
Twilight Princess has the OoT equipment screen, even though it needs to have the Majora's Mask one. You still keep Rusl's Sword and the Ordon Shield, even though you will NEVER need them or use them. The Hero's Clothes makes zero differences.

"Won't it make the game too easy?"
Twilight Princess is already too easy anyway. Who cares at this point.
People need to play with Quadruple Damage on. That way, a Double Defense item is worth 1000 rupees to fix the bridge, doing the hot spring water barrel challenge, 200 rupees to expand to Hyrule Castle Town, then 598 rupees to buy the Magic Armor.
Imagine spending ALL that money for the Magic Armor, only to have to lose the REST of your savings because you're wearing it. That's a STUPID DESIGN.

Nah, Chadlight's idea works best here. For BOTH vanilla and randomizer.
Y'all need to implement it.

I will point out that spending money for ma is based on settings real quick 😅 (shop sanity?)

i just use a cheat code that removes the rupee drain entirely unless you get hit
